I have no problems running SH3 on my windows 8 pc. And I also didn't have to do anything special for it.

Post number 9876 coming in... "8! damn!"

reply: 8 aint different than 7, if you spend some time reading this forum instead of expressing your frustration.
It works Now.
Yours will work soon.

Its just maybe not plug and play as you wish, but takes 30 minutes of time.

Come on now give the guy a break, we've all been there at some time or another.

HundertzehnGustav

I just do not think its of any use at all.

No question. Just an expression. The message to any reader is "it does not work".
whilst at the same time the writer admits his lack of knowledge.
whilst, on the same , on the very same page, there is another Win8 thread on the same subject.
whilst above his head is a topic on Win7 and Vista, covering the same subject.

A tiny bit of curiosity, and he might have found the answers, and not acared any other people by propagating the message "SHIII does not work on Win8"

(...?)

Frustration is okay, i can understand that.
But spreading that frustration... i can not understandd it at all.
It serves no purpose.

So
again:
Treah the combination of SHIII and Win8 with a biit of patience.
it does work. with no starforce, a noCD, and the campaign files in the right place, Win8 does not mean the end of SHIII.

The end of SHIII is not the OS or the software.
it is the user that does not care about SHIII.

not the other way around.

I take on board the points you make but come on....keep a cool head, we the SubSim community are above all others.

a lot of winners.
Winners are those that come not to seek solutions, but to find them...?
winners, those that have te game running? without any other trouble on the machine?
winners, those that have found a bunch of interesting tidbits, making them curious about the time and the men?

a lot of winners. and there can be a lot more to come, and their windows dowsn't matter.
...almost.

It's like: "I'm frustrated because of somebody else frustration" :haha:

On the other hand true, silly persons with such topics like "I'm unlucky -guess my problem" makes me nervous as well :dead:

HundertzehnGustav

More like: I am frustrated that you are frustrated, because there is no need to! The solution is right here!

Do i need frustration management?

*sigh - frustrated*

It could be an idea to update the stickied thread " Windows 7 and Vista troubleshooting " and point out it's for WIN 8 as well...

You spent like 3 paragraphs letting steam , frustrated that I wrote 8 words in a sentence. It would make more sense to tell me "mate check solutions for 7, works for 8 too".

But you just wanted to make a point that... well.. i dont know what point u wanted to make. Maybe ur just a grumpy old man.

In any case, irrelevant.

Hi VonApist I been running SH3 on 2 different computer with many mods installed with win 8 64 bits with no problems. I have not tried sh3 commander 2.7. I had to use the XP ver3 compatibility mode on both computers. The games works great on both computers. I hope this may help you Also I notice that you are using ATI video card. I am using NVida card on both computers.

Hi VonApist: After I install the game(exactly same as you except commander 2.7) I right click on the SH3 desktop icon and went to properties. open Properties and click on the compatibility tab. Click on run this program in compatibility mode for: pick win XP service Pack 3. I hope this will help. Also I dont know anything about commander 2.7; did you try the game without that mod. Good Luck LW

my point is:
don't come here and say "this sucks".
becvause YOUR original statement was even more irrelevant than mine.
your statement was a waste of time.

why?
it was destructive.

the statement was "it does not work"
It was not even the slightest hint of "does anybody have a solution or an idea of a solution"

And you call me a grumpy old man?
Are you really looking to push me?

At least i show you a good attitude and a magnificent tool: your eyes and your methodic Brain!
Read and you will win! whine about something, without even *ASKING* for help, and you will not fix the problem!
Change your attitude, do not look at what's broken! Look at a way to fix it!

You behaved in a stupid manner!
the intelligent thing to do is to open your eyes, read some and think it over. "Maybe there is already a solution for the Win8 problem?"
"Ah! there is a thread on Win7...! And it covers Vista too?"

Exremely sad and annoyed. Damn.

like this:

Locked myself out! Guess i will starve here on the street, because the food is inside the house. extremely sad and annoyed. Damn.

I will press my point once again.
This is a workshop. In workshops, things are made working.
We don't focus on the problem. We focus on a path to a solution.

and that is my advice to you.

...Exremely (sad and) annoyed. Damn.
have a nice day.

This aint only a workshop pops. This is a forum. And if i want to let steam politely without offending anyone i can do so by saying that "I cant load and it sux. " Its not whining. Its letting steam off. Got it?

I fixed my problem and all runs fine now. Not cause of you. Obviouly. Cause Gustav old man, if you are in a workshop, as you say, ur suppose to work. Not "patronise". You did much of the second.

Now YOU probably have nothing else to do in your busy life but to try to make a psychological profile of me and offer me "advice" like "your brain is a magnificent tool" and the rest.

Maybe you have a following or teen aged groupies that allow u to talk to them like that, but Gustav, this aint working with me. Cause im also pretty old.

So if I wanna start a thread saying, "damn the DD rammed me" or "blimey my mission CTD'd" i can do it without asking your permission, as long as it doesnt offend anyone? Got it? Dont read it. Dont comment on it.

And above all, Gustav, dont patronise. Got it, grumpy guy?

PS. judjing by the rants you write, calling what i write stupid, is a joke.

Push you? u dont need a push. Your overboard already man.
