View Full Version : Defenseless harbours & suddenly respawning ships

Hello from one of Europeīs largest inland islands!

Iīve been playing SH5 for a couple of weeks now and was quite happy with the German Ubi-forum. Lately, that one seems to be a little idle which brings me here to the mighty SUBSIM Radio Room!

IS EVERYONE ALRIGHT IN HERE???
:arrgh!:

Since SH5 is my first subsim since the glorious AotD I am seriously impressed by some of the graphics and weather effects - and, not surprisingly, appalled by the incredible bugfest and confused by the sheer number of necessary mods.

All you modders out there: youīre doing one hell of a fine job.
Imagine a six-feet-five German with dreadlocks down to his butt crawling through the dust and bowing down in front of you - īcause thatīs what I am doing right this moment...

Okay...down to business. My observation/problem is the following: being quite an aggressive player and not wanting to search the vast ocean for the enemy I started my vanilla/stock- as well as my Schleichfahrt (with IRAI)- campaign by sneaking into many ports and sinking a lot of enemy ships there, even in neutral ones like Amsterdam and Bergen.

I have to be careful going in there (but not toooo careful, itīs still ī39) but once my first torpedo finds a target and I would expect that all hell breaks loose over me - nothing happens...:hmmm:

The destroyers (by the way, far too many modern and expensive fleet destroyers patrolling the ports - thatīs a job for all thatīs old and small, not the brand new Tribals...) turn towards the sound but go completely still and idle. At first, I just slaughtered all these poor zero-knot-victims but I decided to leave them. Itīs just not...sporting...

Is somebody working on a mod fixing that issue?

And by the way: going into a harbour, sinking all eight ships (far too many large tankers there!) only to see new ships respawning out of nowhere doesnīt add to the atmosphere either...
:D

Whatīs YOUR experience with attacking ports?

Cheerio,

Alex

You need the campaign mod OH2
check this thread
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=190656
or this one

Are you sure IRAI is enabled properly ?

Welcome to SubSim Alex. This is the place to be for the good stuff... no matter what language you come from. ;)

I've seen the same thing happen at Scap Flow, even with OHII Full installed. The escorts just sit there like sitting ducks. In stock SH5 they did hunt you down.. or try to. There was no repawning until after I got out and had moved on for at least a day. Never seen that happen while hunting in a port. Once you sink a ship it's gone.

MINES! :har:

More seriously, once avoiding mines, plenty of war ships (mainly destroyers) and some heavy merchants too...
OHII full is a hell of a mod when activated correctly! :yeah:

My only trouble (wich isn't real one BTW) is i have to dive every 2 hours or so.
Cause the rotative hydro works only underwater.
And following/intercepting ships in foggy days, is quite hard :)

Thanks for your replies guys!

IRAI and OH full 2.0 ARE a part of the Scheichfahrt-Mod which I have activated and should do their job.

Interesting... how can I tell if IRAI and OH2 work properly? The campaign tree runs until ī45 and I can see "OH" in the main menu.

But... I havenīt seen any whales so far...
:hmmm:
Can you tell me where I can DEFINITELY find minefields?

:wah:The Port bugs become increasingly irritating...
