hello y'all

I have been told to conduct anti-shipping ops in the East China Sea, and in obedience to that order I have sunk three merchants, but all in the corridor east(ish) of the Ryukyu Islands, and as my mission is still marked as 'incomplete' I am wondering if I ought to be on the western side of the island chain. Trouble is, I came down that way and did not encounter any traffic, and I am unwilling to go further west into the East China Sea as it gets too shallow for comfort the closer you get to the mainland.

You playing stock? I remember having all sorts of trouble 'triggering' a completed status (grey star) on many missions, I put it down to just another bug, that is, in v1.4 at least.

I have no idea what the radius of a patrol grid is but I stick to 50Nm of the highlighted star, maybe you're just outside the radius.... or you haven't finished the 5day patrol.

What I normally do is make a circle of 50Nm and stay in it.
If I get a contact outside the zone I go after it and go back in afterwards... (that mostly depends on the fuel level I have left).

Yeah, now you're jogging my memory; I'll have a look through some of my old posts, I think someone once gave me the exact details of radius and time. IIRC it is cumulitive so you can leave the area and return and not loose the original time you spent there. I did play TMO for a while but can't remember if it affected that or not.

This is give to you in the order.
"Go to ***** and patrol for X number of day's...

With RSRDC its in hours if I recall correct.

my instructs were simply to conduct anti shipping in the East China Sea - no time parameters. Turns out HJ is correct as I went back ( I cheated and TC'd) and faffed about finding nothing within a 50 nm radius search pattern, and after a day or so it got marked up as completed. Job done!:)

You still sunk ships. That's the important thing. It doesn't matter where you sink them. :yeah:
When I get orders like that and can't find anything, I just hang out in one spot with time compression up until I get mission completed. :()1: :woot:

Glad you got it sorted, I had a look but my recorded posts don't go back far enough.

also sometimes ships sunk outside the "zone" dont count but most times they do.

your "time" spent outside the zone does NOT count and if you leave the zone then you should go to center of zone on your return before doing your own thing because on occassion just returning to the inside edges of the zone doesnt always register you as being back "in the zone" so its a PITA but thats what TC is for lol :O:

often i will wait out my time first then go exploring on my own to get the tonnage

ahhh, just worked out what PITA means...I'm zonked from doing computers; that's my excuse! :88)
