I'm not sure many will feel he is being truthful and sincere or convincing for that matter....they say a leopard never changes its spots.
The North Korean leader has delivered a new year's message on state TV, the first such broadcast for 19 years.
Kim Jong-un, in power since 2011, spoke of the need to improve the economy and also to reunify the Koreas, warning that confrontation only led to war.
Kim Jong-un said 2013 would be a year of creations and changes, calling for a "radical turnabout" that would transform the impoverished, isolated state into an "economic giant" and raise living standards.

Change will come slow in the DPRK. Unfortunately in such countries the status quo is the status quo. The older guys are dying off. I hope that KJU will be able to make some more changes than KJI had.

One never knows. Yes, the older thoughts and ideals are dying with the men that possess them. Something new emerges with the young. Perhaps a dream or fantasy but all the same a different path and train of thought. Each leader has their own aspirations.

Well here's hoping all the outcomes are of a positive and peaceful nature.

Some days ago I read a report about him that indicated that he is even more brutal and murderous than his father and grandfather ave been. To imagine that he may bring change in a positive way because the ideas of his forefathers died with them, currently I do not waste one second for.
He also has the whole rats tail of privileged and corrupted military elites in his neck.
I read the whole speech apparently very different, to me it is a threat, not a sign of hope. When talks about reuniting the Koreans and bringing change, I only ask myself: bringing change at what direction: towards the North - or towards the south. Are the Koreas to be united on basis off the Southern model - or is it meant to be the North swallowing the South, "nothernizing" it that way?
I am quite certain I know the answer already.
This "news" thus is a non-news to me. It is pure propaganda. Bad things do not just leave all by themselves. Evil people don't just leave either.

You could well be right Sky and I have suspicions you may well be but I also feel he should be given a chance first...heaven knows, the world gave his predecessors plenty.

Time will tell Sky. He could be the "only child" that has a mean streak. Possibly uglier than his father's. Perhaps it is posturing for military. :hmmm:

KJU wanted to 'reunify the Koreas', too. They don't mean it like we'd mean it. :nope:
