Anybody know where I can get some good ones? Ive plundered my sound folders on my computer for a good sound effect.
I got a Samsung Flight II. I need some sort of MP3 file to use as a ringtone. I don't want to have to resort to recording something. Currently, I'm using an A-10 Thunderbolt flying by as my message tone. Where can I get something for submarines? I want a sub ringtone... :hmmm:

I have a sonar 'Ping' (as depicted (desounded?) in the movies, and a Vulcan howl amongst my ringtones.

These are in .wav format but you can convert them to an .mp3 easily:

I used some of these when I was making DW missions.

I also use a sonar ping as a ringtone, fits perfect. It is after all, signaling that someone is looking for you, and is kind of alerting, because of the association with the nerve-wracking hunt of SH3/SH4.
I hate using songs as ringtones like some people do because it doesn't feel right, and if its a good song i might not want to pick up the phone either. In a ringtone i want something in it to make me feel compelled to pick up the phone, something that tells me im getting a call, not a spontaneous jukebox.
The sonar ping is excellent, has the same obvious feel as a standard ringing tone but with a nice personal touch.
I use one of the more realistic sounding ones taken from a SH3 mod.
For a while i had the "message received" audio from SH3 GWX as the SMS signal, the one taken from Das Boot. You know, the morse code followed by the sound operator saying "new message received herr kaleun" in german.
Its a nice theme and all, but i stopped using it because it was both too long and it sometimes felt awkward getting SMS around people.
Most folks dont get what its from and always look so puzzled when hearing it, and explaining it to friends and acquiantances got tiring.
Out of context its just some weird noise and a guy speaking german (and i live in Sweden, so most people hearing it don't understand german).
Nowadays i use the standard SMS sound and sonar ping as ring tone.
So yeah, go for the sonar!
As for SMS, i don't know, im looking for the same thing. Maybe use the morse code and noise from a received message in SH3 but cutting out the german voice?
edit:
Here's the sonar ping i use as a ringtone:

I've also been using a sonar ping for more than a year, and I have no intention of changing any time soon. I never have to wonder whether a phone ringing in a crowd is mine.
Oh, and I used www.goldwave.com (http://www.goldwave.com) to convert it to work in my phone.

I got the "ALRAM" sequence from Das Boot set for my alarm clock. It scared the crap out of my boss when it went off.
I have the sonar ping, that we use when doing a depth check, for incoming texts.
The typewritter sound followed by the"Message received Captain" for emails.
But the best is using the deck gun firing and reload sequence by Thomsen, for the sound of out going messages.
So yeah, my iPhone is primed out Subsim style....
Hmmmm......."Subsim style"......Neal? Wanna make a music video? All we need is a catchy dance move.

I got the Crash Dive sound from Silent Hunter 4 as my Alarm now. I'm still looking for a good message/ring tone...I might do a ping. I might convert the Crash Dive sound and use that.
