Your new u-boat shouldn't be equipped with a direction finder from the beginning.

If you have just started a campiagn, at some point you will be able to select a radar device in the equipment upgrades menu. But beware: unless you have enabled a mod dealing with them, upgrades are gained through reward (the better you go in campaign, the more reward), and they are only available by date.

I other words, at the very beginning of the campaign there are few upgrades that you can select, since the few available will most probably be outside your means. So: be wise when you spend your reward ;)

Thanks for the reply but ive only had a mess around with a couple of the historical missions and have been given a V11C havent done any sort of campaign yet but surely the direction finding loop worked on all u-boats from the begining ?

I got it the Xmas before last but only started playing recently, so I know what it's like to have a long wait. In other words, I feel your pain, but the good news is: It's worth the wait! :yep:

I may be wrong, but my boat has always had a loopfinder, it's just that we could never animate it like in SH3 where you can raise and lower the loopfinder. When I have a Type 7 A in SH5 I always had that loopfinder going around slowly, it automatically disappears when I get to 20 or 30 meters under.
It may be that one of my installed mods put the loopfinder in but I thought it was always there.
If you mod up some with a new UI and some other upgrades, you'll get the loopfinder. Try a campaign, and place some good mods in and I think you'll find that the Sim is going to really start coming alive for you, and you'll have your loopfinder!
