My daughter and I have begun watching this British historical melo-drama, and we love it. It really is well-done and the actors are wonderful. It's a great pleasure for me to see Elizabeth McGovern in her silver years, she still has that twinkle in her eye. The actor who plays Lord Grantham is also very regal and convincing. We are really taken by Mr. Bates and Anna and their faithfulness. Great stuff.
Aye, I know it's a soap opera, and at this level of quality, I go in for it. We are at Season 2, ep 4 and the war is in its final year. No Spoilers Please :) Anyone else enjoy this program?
Downton Abbey, has been shown on TV, but I have not seen anything .... yet, might give it a chance,:yep:

Haven't seen it, but I remember enjoying the old British mini-soap Flambards, set before and during WW1.

My wife turned me on to Downton Abbey a while ago. I won't give away any spoilers, but will just say that we both enjoy watching the program. The Edwardian time period has that whole 'Upstairs, Downstairs' feel, albeit without most of the 'Downstairs'.

Sounds interesting. My better half and I watch Keeping Up Appearances and As Time Goes By. Both British sitcom and quite funny. Perhaps we will give this a go.

The three season plus the Christmas special DVD boxed set was amongst my wifes presents from me today.
Not a spoiler but the first couple of episodes were criticised because somebody forgot to take the tv ariels down off the rooftops before filming commenced as well as yellow parking lines off the roads :)

Well, in the first picture that's obviously Tesla on holiday in the UK, and the second is just Banksys great-great-grandfather.

Haha, yeah, I wouldn't notice that at all. :)
Jim, how many seasons are there? I have heard the UK version is more complete than what we have here in the States.

Saw a few episodes on TV, made me feel like I was back in Scotland. Would like to pick it up on DVD someday when I have more time.

There are three complete seasons (a fourth is reported to be in the planning/writing stage) plus a one off Xmas special which was aired for the first time yesterday.
My missus jokingly said I could have given her the Xmas special disc on Xmas eve so she could view it a day early.
Womens logic I suppose

Nice. Well, we finished watching the third season tonight, had to get the episodes direct from the UK. So, now the long wait until season 4 :wah:
Awesome show, so much fun to watch. :salute:

Yes, saw it last night. I didn't realize there was one for 2012 until after we watched the cricket episode and I posted the comments. Not happy. :wah:
Grat series. The place really exists and is open to the public, so I've heard. Might be worth a visit to see how the 'other half' lives.
