That's awesome blkdimnd. I did not know ham radio was still something people enjoyed and participated in anymore. :hmmm:
It's as big as ever, I hear. Congrats on your certificate!

When I was a kid it was not unusual for homes in the neighborhood to have a large antenna on the house or set up in the yard. I do not see them much anymore.

You should really tell more.
I always thought ham radio was something you built from kits and just went broadcasting. Didn't know you need a licence inland ???
I'm contemplating instaling a CB station in my car :hmmm:

I think a CB does not require a license.

Certainly not necessary in the UK

I spend a lot of time on the highway. A two hour drive just to get to my school.
But where to mount it. I think I'll have to throw out the speedometer and ODO counter to make room :hmmm:

They dropped the license way back in the '70's for CB operaters in the U.S.A.
I had one then 2 months later?
POOF!

I owned a 80 Lincoln that had a factory installed CB. I remember my brother toying with one in his car way back when. I do not recall needing anything to own it. Citizen Band Radio. 10-4 Rubber ducky. Put the hammer down. Smokey in a plain brown wrapper. Come back....
Sheesh...Smokey and the Bandit.

Too many rubber ducks for my liking...used to listen in on warnings of impending speed checks and prosecute for obstructing official Police procedures http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/wolfcop.gif
