First question: Who did all the calculations and drawings and such for shooting torpedoes? It seems a little crazy that the captain would look through the periscope and then run down and mess around on the map and then run back up and look through the periscope etc.

Second question: I downloaded Magnus Opus megamod, I like it a lot but the one problem I have is my ocean is a neon bright green/yellow. I don't know what files I need to delete to get rid of this specific effect, can anyone point me to it?

The captain was of course fully capable of doing all the plotting and calculations, but he got that way as a junior officer, and every officer had to undergo the same schooling and training, and practice constantly until his superiors were satisfied. The 1WO (American XO), being the senior officer after the captain, was the man entrusted with leading the team who did the plotting. Of course their plots could only be as accurate as the captain's own observations, so he did have to do that part.

As to the other question, I know nothing about the workings of SH5 mods, so someone with experience in that area will have to provide the answers.

They must have been insanely strong to be climbing up and down the ladders to keep checking the periscope.

Kind of like being the only employee at a fast food restaurant. :har:

It's not really an issue that's specific to SH5 as it runs the gamut across a wide range of games. Still, I get what you're saying, but AI has a ways to go before such tasks can be delegated with a sufficient degree of competency.

As for the second question, I've never tested MO, as I started with MMM and then advanced to Dynamic Environment instead. Good luck. Hopefully someone will be along with the answer. :sunny:

Hehe, that's what I was thinking fish :D

It makes me feel a bit better about just using the auto TDC, manual is a bit too much for me to handle under pressure :P Though I suspect when I get bored of auto I'll start learning manual.

EDIT: Could still use an answer to question 2. Not sure what to remove to get rid of the green.

That's one of the places where SH3 still outshines the rest. It had 'Weapons Officer Assistance'. I select Manual Targetting plus WE Assistance. The WE Identifies the target and does all the plotting. It's like auto-targeting but instead of a constant running update you only get the update when you click on him and ask. It's like taking 'snapshots' of the situation. It's bad because he's perfect and never makes mistakes, but still it fulfills its function and is perfect for me. :sunny:

I wish SH4 and SH5 had that as well.

I'm pretty sure that TDW can implement it in his UI. It's already half way there with IDing the ship and assistance of the officers in determining speed and AOB of the target.
I think somewhere around there there is a script that does it. Don't remember if it's a built in, Trev's or someone elses, but I remember fighting it when it was not polished off yet and would start calculations when I didn't wanted it to...

I tried manual TDC using one of the tutorial series posted here this morning, I thought I was doing really well but the torpedo ended up going a mile behind the boat lol.

I too would like a weapons assistance officer of some sort :)
