These idiots are going to picket the funerals of the children who were killed at the Sandy Hook school!:nope: You know, people are going to seriously hurt these religious nutjobs, especially at an event like this!!

One good thing that the Hacker group Anonymous has done, is hacking into Westboros website, and posting their personal info:D Normally I wouldn't agree with this kind of hacking, but when they want to demonstrate at the funerals of thse poor children, I say take the gloves off!!

Unbelievable. They have been stopped protesting before and I believe the general uproar this time will encourage more to turn up to stop them. WBC need to hide out on a surrounded ranch in Waco.

What the hell is wrong with these weirdos!? First they pervert the teachings of the Messiah to suit themselves, then picket the funerals of brave men who died for their country, and now this! The thing that upsets me the most, however, is that Armistead pointed out to me that early Christians had no concept of hell, so these creeps won't be getting what they deserve when they finally kick the bucket. At least anonymous is going to make their lives hell.

In that case, they'll have to rename the place Wacko.

I shouldn't continue to be surprised by these things, but I still am. I just wish the earth would swallow these people and we would never see them again.

I'm sure he would, I just can't believe they would have the audacity to do this at these childrens funerals.
Could you imagine what it would be like if they had shown up for the funerals of those who died in Lockerbie?

These nuts do this for attention. They claimed they were coming here once to picket killed vets, but when they found out the Hell's Angels were coming in mass to deal with them, they stayed home.

My guess is they show up there, they'll find themselves getting railroaded out of town.

i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make it out of there unscathed. Worthless human beings sucking up resources.

Yeah, I know about the gay veterans and the people who died from AIDS. But children? Murdered children?

I tell ya if I was a family member of one of those children and these people showed up......

Anyway, I read the article but I still don't get why.

I completely agree that these folks should be prevented from activities like this. While I fully support freedom of speech, parents and friends also have the right to grieve in private, not being bothered by idiots.

Sorry to run off the rails, but I think this deserves answering:

What a strange thing to say. First, how do you know those early Christians were right? Was Armistead referring to all Christians of that time, or only a certain group? Do you base all your beliefs on something someone told you?

My point is not to disagree with Armistead, but with your interpretation of what you think he said. Just because someone two thousand years ago didn't believe it, how do you know there is no hell? How do you know that these people won't end up there? You say that what upsets you most is something you have no way of knowing about, based on what someone who died centuries ago may or may not have believed.

Better to just stick to despising these jerks in the here and now. What happens to anyone in the next life (if there even is one) is a matter of pure speculation, and not worth getting upset over.

Good point. Although, in a weeks time, Westboro Baptist Church will probably be Westboro Rubble Pile :D

I'd still wager no. We will continue to hear from and about these people. America is rife with hate groups. WBC is but one of many.

Not exactly sure how this came up, but what I was saying the majority of the early church was universalist, they believed God would judge, but that all people would be saved by the work of the cross. This was believed by the earliest church Fathers closet to Jerusalam. Certainly there were other Fathers that believed in hell as a torture pit. We must remember hell wasn't a Christian concept, it long existed in most pagan religions in some form.

If God exist, I don't believe that he would have any desire to torture the majority of humanity because they followed their cultural beliefs, such as Hindu's, etc..

The fact is they're numerous Christian beliefs on hell and heaven. I'm agnostic on the issue myself.

They believe this is God's punishment for the sins of our society. They believe our moral compass is so out of whack that tragedy's like this are part of God's judgement against us.

Must be nice that WBC has such great insight as this.:nope:

Oh, I know, and I understand. It came up because the youngling took that belief for fact and said he was upset that the WBBC folks aren't going to hell. That simple.

The amazing thing is that Fred Phelps was apparently for many years a top civil rights lawyer.

As I said in the other thread I think these nuts accomplished their objective by just saying they would show up. They crave attention and they sure are getting it. No need to actually show and risk a beating...
