Yes, when I open the game and select play, it opens uplay menu. However SH5 is not in my uplay list (its the only game i have with uplay too). And i created an account, and logged in. Im not sure what else to do...is there a way to get into SH5 and bypass uplay menu?

actually no, it seems that after the download, its not going to the register page, it just says no games found when uplay starts, so i cant even register it-

uninstall and reinstall. Since you are installing from CD you should get an activation window to activate your cd key, does that happen? Then you create the uplay account which you said you did, right? but when you log on to uplay silent hunter is not there. only thing I can think is uninstall and reinstall. you can go in to the uplay settings and set it to offline mode, not sure that would help any in this case though. uplay is not seeing your game.

Guys, I really appreciate your help, I hope we can figure this out, i have been waiting patiently for SH5 to come in the mail so its agonizing not to get it working! Now, to answer the last post, I do not get the activation code screen. I have an activation code, but i have uninstalled (fully) and reinstalled about 4 times now, and that window does not come up. so i cant figure out what i need to do to get the game activated!!

I wish it were that easy, but im not the only one who's uplay isnt recognizing a downloaded game. but every solution doesnt work
You said that after starting the game the uplay window opens.
Here you should be prompted to enter your U-play account name and password, if it is your first game with Ubisoft you can choose "create a new account"
After this the game will be tied to your account, press "play", a window for entering the product key should then appear.

I think there is a step missing, where you actually assign this particular game to your one particular account.
It's been so long ago that I can't remember how I did it or even where did I do it: whether I had to go to ubi's website or I did it through the launcher...
yes , it's been quite a while ago since I installed it....
One more thought came to my mind:
Did you buy the disc 2nd hand? You would then need the original account name and login...

I got the game new from amazon. I will try going on ubisoft and seeing if i missed a registration step. the photo is actually from ubisoft support, but their solution didnt fix my problem. however when i go to games on uplay i get this screen (disregard the assasins creed SH5 is the only game i have with uplay)
after opening u-play, do you see your account name in the top right corner of the window?
any firewall enabled?

I have tried it with firewall and anti-virus disabled, and i have tried it with them enabled. yes the "main" uplay screen has my name and stuff in the right corner where the avatar photo is. and SH5 does not show up to play or enter activation key!
mmmmmmhhhhh :hmmm:
OK, top right corner -- info:
Version 2.1.3 ?
top right corner -- settings:
"Allow UPlay to access Internet".....does that box have a tick?

Just put in your uplay name and password .
Robertcompassrose

yes, uplay settings is allowed to connect automatically to internet...and sober, you have to put user name and password to log onto to uplay, so that would do nothing to solve the current issue...but i appreciate the help thus far! I hope i dont have to return SH5!!

also yes...my uplay version is 2.1.3

On the uplay settings (enable in game overlay for supported games ) i think i remember i had to untick it or tick it . Try that .

Sober, I tried your suggestion about ticking/unticking the "enable in-game overlay for supported game" I tried both ticking, then restarting then unticking and restarting. neither of them worked......

user error :yep:
Ubisoft/Uplay is crap... I have never been able to get any Ubisoft game to work online/multiplayer. There netcode/servers stink. I have never had any problem with other games/sims online... just Ubisoft. They need to scrap there whole online system, employ some proper netcode writers and start again.
After a half hour of frustration rising to panic, I found the activation codes for the CD on the reverse side of the inside cover paper.

Hi Rcpr
Yes, when I open the game and select playPost #74 Run Both SH5.exe And Ubisoft Game Launcher Application's As Administrator's (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2204598&postcount=74)

I would go to the Control Panel Programs and Features and uninstall the
Ubisoft/Uplay Game Launcher.
When uninstalling and before re-installing you need to use a free registry cleaner and re-boot your system before re-instaalling.

Install this genuine Game Launcher but not in the Program File (x86) directory

If you have a dvd and as long as it is new and not second hand then there is no reason why this should not be recognized by Uplay.
On creating a Uplay account you should get an email message.
To create an account you need.
A login name.
Password.
Part of the dvd Installation process automatically takes you to Uplay where you will be asked to enter the CD registration key which comes with each disc and is locked to it.
IIRC I do not see in your posts that you mention a CD key anywhere or having been asked for it.
