I've noticed twice now that a Royal Navy S-Class sub has been part of a convoy I've come across - is this normal? Both times the sub was in station on the port side rear-most position.
Yes it is normal in the early years of the war.

Ok, thanks. Just seemed a bit odd that's all! Easy pickings though, they don't tend to need a second shot!

I recall an amusing anecdote featured in an edition of Navy News a few years ago.
A submarine signalled to the escort destroyer that 'If attacked, intend to remain on the surface.'.
To which the destroyer responded 'So do I.'.
Amusing.

Ahhh! Matelot Monthly! I know it well! At least they usually get the RFA/HMS prefix the right way round eh?

If you've GWX installed you'll also notice the later inclusion of BB's which is also realistically accurate.

I've seen a cruiser in a couple of convoys as well. In fact I almost literally ran into one in a convoy. Visibility was under a kilometer and I was trying to sneak in. All I saw was dark shapes. About the time I made out what it was, he spotted me as well. Wasn't pretty. :nope:

Southhampton class light cruiser (http://img302.imageshack.us/img302/600/germancl6oj.jpg) is in almost every convoy in 1939 and 1940...also the sub i have seen them a lot of times.
Not all reported Task Forces are actually Task Forces after all. They turn out to be regular convoys with a S class sub in the lead ship position.:yep:

It is good to see auxiliary tankers in convoys as well. You can spot them by the RAS rigs they have. Although they are red rather than blue ensigned. Nice though.

So, you're finding these in SH3 stock?! I never came across one. :hmm2:

Troopie,
Sorry, I should have made it clear - I'm running GWX gold.

Make it more clear! Who not....
Wait till you find an enemy convoy with a type IXB in the lead ship position. He didn't last long when I attacked the convoy, and the front escort came back on the hunt for the intruder and found him there.:yep:
