and the voice actress that does the voice of Glados in Portal?

Then soon there's Pacific Rim
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-ZcqwvQbas

 It'll probally do weak in plot but hopefully it'll make up for the giant monsters and robots beating eachother up because that's the only reason you'll watch kaiju flicks anyway. :D

That is one I will certainly watch out for...the horns remind me of those in War Of The Worlds

This looks awesome!

Also stuff for endless sequels:
What if the monster we created to fight monsters turns against us? -> part 2
What if the monster we created to fight the monster we created to fight monsters also turns on us? part 3, etc, etc...

Those movies used to be broadcast on the UHF channels all the time when I was a kid. They had a certain Plan 9 appeal; so bad that they were good.

My favorite Godzilla antagonist:

Exactly Tak. Back in the day were rabbit ears had aluminum foil wrapped on them or there might have been a antenna strapped to your roof. Black and white 13 inch TV is what I had. And to think today it is HD on a 60 inch.

When I was a kid there was a British monster movie called Gorgo:

It had a pretty good plot, and a real twist at the end - at least as I remember. It has been more than fifty years.

Needs more Gendo but other than that it looks good. I'm presuming in the sequel that the Robots own intelligence system will rebel and force the pilots to go through a hazardous assault course to escape? :hmmm:

I saw The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad in the theater when I was a kid.

It had a monster Cyclops, a giant lizard-like dragon hybred, giant flying birds, sword fighting skeletons, a shrunken princess, etc, etc

Claymation by Ray Harryhausen at its best. It hooked me on monster movies for life. Even bad ones are ok. :)

Kaiju monsters and giant mecha in the same movie ,What's not to like:D:D:D

Of course having the voice of GlaDDos for the mecha AI is a nicely bizarre Del Toro touch:yeah:

Hot damn, so you can do a giant robot/monster movie outside of anime and make it look good. :yep:

And Rinko Kikuchi is insanely hot!:sunny:

At the enhanced risk of potential disembowelment, I do agree.

In the trailer where the robot is carrying the container ship as a bat that looks pretty awesome.

Exxon Valdez to the face that would rain on any giant monsters parade.

The Japaneses actress looks pretty good so I third that opinion.

By the way anyone who likes the Godzilla flicks check out "The Godzilla Collection" it has most of the Godzilla flicks from the old series. Not a bad price either I picked it up for $20.00 a while back on Amazon.
Sadly it is not possible to get every orginal Godzilla film on DVD or Blu-ray it seems that there are some legal issues as to who owns the right to distribute some of the films.

Did I see a brief scene with Ron Perlman?

You did I noticed him as well.I also noticed Idris Elba in a few scenes he played Stringer Bell in "The Wire" he is a fairly decent character actor he played the captain in "Prometheus".Of course Perlman is a good character actor as well.

From what I've read Ron perlman's character is an illegal Kiaju parts dealer and a bit of a scene stealer when he shows up

I just don't have any confidence that Hollywood would not mess this up and turn it into a "transformers" type CGI crap fest. :nope:

Ah you did see the trailer I hope.It clearly has a lot of CGI in it and that is par for the course in modern film.CGI in and of itself is not a bad thing it can be very convincing looking.I do agree that the Transformers films a crap fest but that does not mean that every film that has some CGI in it and even heavily relies on it is going to be bad.

Yes, I watched that and the other stuff on Youtube.

CGI, like other special effects, can help make a movie more enjoyably. But when the emphasis, effort, and money is concentrated on CGI and not on writing, plot and character development, that's the problem.

I often think that Hollywood makes movies backward

Someone comes in with a wonderful CGI effect that they have programmed and Hollywood quickly writes up something around the special effects. :nope:

But clearly I am wrong, because these CGI focused movies bring in the $$$ and in the end, that's all that matters.

One of these days, I think Hollywood will just dump the pretext of plot and start producing short subjects with CGI effects. String a couple together and you have your obligatory 2 hour film. The audiences will eat it up.

Just an FYI 'Crackle' has been making a truck load of Godzilla movies available online for free. Last night I watched Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah duke it out in Giant Monsters All Out Attack. All I need now to make this Saturday morning complete would be to find an episode of Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot and all would be well in the world.
