Hi all,

i have been playing the game for a while and there is one thing that it escapes me. As the war progress messegas start to pop up with intelligence information about convoys expected to be here and there, and aproximation time, specially of importance if you are in pearl have harbor or midway, because of the vast of the ocean regions you hile ave to patrol, average 150nm in the middle of a supposed shipping line. I have play it for a while and have at least try to intercept 10 to 15 convoys with the intelligence provided, patroling the area of the expected convoy before the suppose time until after, but i have miss them all. I can accept to miss some, but after 15 misses i just have no confice on such messages (TF are where itelligence tells you they are expected and i have intecept some). I just was wondering if there is something that i am doing wrong, or that i am missing. I do not know how accurate are those intelligence sources and how accurate is the SPA calculation on then are they going to be there. Do i have to stay ther longer, do i have to patrol for then in a more wide range, or how can i intercept at least some of those convoys? Tips, explanations, expiriences, and answers aprecciatted.

Thanks

Are you running stock or RSRDC? The stock reports give the location where the convoys are seen and you have to plot an intercept course. RSRDC reports give the expected location if nothing changes. In both cases, it's a crap shoot. You also have to get there early and be patient. The convoy may not pass your location until later than expected.

Convoy reports are fairly accurate with RSRD, but it's not a science, nor should it be.

You'll get different types of messages.

Group spotted, heading and speed. Consider this a message from another sub, highly accurate. However, this doesn't mean it will remain on that course. Remember RSRD isn't like Stock traffic, all groups actually spawn at a port and travel to a docking base of location. Try to figure out where the group may be heading and pick an ambush point.

Flash message of an expected group to be at such and such location at such and such time. Usually it tells you the port the group is leaving and where it will dock. Example. "Three convoys leaving Home Waters to Merak, expected to pass through the northern end of Formosa the night of Aug 30.." You've got to decide where to ambush.

With some of the large battles, you'll get fairly decent info and it improves as the war progresses. In fact, as the war progresses you'll get more and more contact info that is better than early war.

When you're told to sit near exact long/lat points, most likely a group is coming through, doesn't mean you're in exact position, but usually within 20nms.
