Someone obviously isn't aware of the current crisis in Europe then :hmmm:

The presidents of the EU's three main institutions have collected the Nobel Peace Prize in Norway's capital Oslo.
The EU was awarded the prize for its role in uniting the continent after two world wars.
At the ceremony there was applause when the leaders of France and Germany stood up, holding hands.

Apart from the Balkans flaring up n the nineties, there hasn't been a war in Europe since 1945 :hmmm:

But then again, how much do the Russians and Americans have to do with the peace, by keeping their blocks from going hot

And I thought giving it to Obama already was an all-time-low.

The whole concept of the Peace Nobel Prize has been hijacked. Originally it was meant, by the will of Nobel, to reward accieve, ments on behalf of demilitarization in the world.

But the EU has not caused peace in Europe - that was the enemy from outside againmst which NATO necessarily had to unite. Germany, Britain, France ansd Italy are amongst the biggest arms sellers in the world. They have brought a corrupt criminal regime into office in Kosovo. They have intervened to help bringing fundamentlaist reigmes to power in several other states. The Euro has not reduced but increased tensions among European people.

By this record, the EU does not deserve it. Not one damn bit.

Problem is the prize has been hijacked, as I said. It no longer is meant to read accumulated merits and achievements, but is meant to push wanted political actions - it rewards not past deeds, but gives hail and praise for things the prize winner should do in the future.

It is disgusting. And there have been many highly questionable names who won the prize in past decades as well. Not for demilitarization. But for ecologic ideology. For poverty projects. For political correctness. For feminism. I just wait for a gender movement or a movement for the equality of homo marriages being given the Peace Nobel.

In short: it is a prize that is not worth anything anymore.
