Heard it on the radio earlier. Sad need indeed, quite an achievement presenting for so long.
RIP Sir Patrick :salute:
Sigh.. R.I.P Patrick, I will look out for yoo when I am stargazing.
Cheers
Gary
Absolutely gutted, a marvellous man with a great sense of humour and eccentricity. RIP, may you rest in the stars that you loved so much.
Very sad news indeed. But what a man and what a life.
I'm glad I have several episodes of 'The Sky at Night' saved on my Skybox.
I remember during one of the anniversary programs last year, he talked about how he had met Orville Wright, Yuri Garagaren and Neil Armstrong. I doubt there are many who could have claimed that hat trick.

Heart problems meant he spent much of his childhood being educated at home and he became an avid reader. His mother gave him a copy of GF Chambers' book, The Story of the Solar System, and this sparked his lifelong passion for astronomy.
Heart trouble as a child, yet he lived to reach 91. That's quite an accomplishment in itself. Good for him!

Never seen him in anything other than a brief guest appearance in Doctor Who, but still sad to hear that he has died.
Rest in Peace.
