The sperm count of French men fell by a third between 1989 and 2005, a study suggests.

The semen of more than 26,600 French men was tested in the study, reported in the journal Human Reproduction.

The number of millions of spermatozoa per millilitre fell by 32.3%, a rate of about 1.9% a year. And the percentage of normally shaped sperm fell by 33.4%.

The average sperm count remained within the fertile range, but experts want to see more research into possible causes.

Perhaps one of the reasons why French women prefer men outside their country, and especially Scandinavians, :D

Geesh, you would want a job testing semen all day.

Anyway, I know I'm special, because out of a billion sperms, I survived...

Hmm, this may mean we now have to reconsider the validity of Darwin's theories... :D

I wonder, should we make Darwin the saint of evolution?

Look on Richard Dawkins face=priceless.

I would think this would make them more interested in French men as there would be a lower chance of becoming impregnated.

But to be honest, this is a study I am glad I am not involved in.

"Hi Honey, how was your day"

"Well we had a few hundred French men ...uh.. contribute in test tubes. I put each... contribution... under a microscope and used a grid to count the number of sperm. Same thing I did all last month. By the way, what's for dinner"

"Clam chowder"

"No thank you"
