Global coffee chain Starbucks has said it is in talks with HM Revenue and Customs and the Treasury over how much UK tax it pays.

It is one of several well-known firms that were criticised over the level of their corporation tax payments.

The firm admitted that it "needed to do more" in the UK on tax.

Meanwhile, Chancellor George Osborne has pledged more funds for the British authorities to tackle tax avoidance by multinationals.

Starbucks is in talks with HMRC about how much tax it pays.

He told the BBC that an announcement would be made on Monday about the "extra investment in the part of the Inland Revenue that tackles tax avoidance by multinational companies".

A Public Accounts Committee report on the topic of how much tax multinational firms pay in the UK is due on Monday.

In November the committee took evidence from executives from Starbucks, Google and Amazon over the amount of tax the companies have paid in the UK.

I love coffee and it must be strong,:)

I like coffee, but usually only drink decaf nowadays. The last time I had Starbucks, you could have decaf, or you could have Fairtrade, you couldn't have both.

I think that's changed now, but I've not been back to try.

Oh, and whilst Dunkin' may beat Starbucks, it doesn't, imo, beat Krispy Kreme. :D

As long as it goes down and is strong, good! Weak coffee not good,:arrgh!:

Starbucks agrees to pay more tax

Coffee chain Starbucks has agreed to pay more UK corporation tax, after a public outcry over how little it pays.
Kris Engskov, managing director of Starbucks UK, announced that the company would pay "a significant amount of tax during 2013 and 2014, regardless of whether the company is profitable during these years".
One tax expert described the move as "unprecedented".
But Amazon and Google, also under fire for paying little UK tax, held firm.
The extra tax could amount to £20m over the next two years, Mr Engskov said.
