I wonder what Assad is up to now :hmmm:

The internet and mobile phone systems have been cut off in Syria, a monitoring firm has said.
Internet monitoring firm Renesys said the country's connection protocols were unreachable, "effectively removing the country from the internet".

An interesting development in view of all data traffic, which flows into the country, may indeed have consequences.

Disrupting nation-wide coordination of rebels and protest, and eliminating foreign info on the state of things reaching Syrian population.

Pretty much what I was thinking but the matter just gets worse when information eventually gets out of Syria.

But there are still analog systems, which are used in case of interruption, a natural function of the infrastructure, but Syria has bad infrastructure, so it can become a dilemma.

The alternative means are not as quick hence the reference to "the next day or so".

We'll see what comes of this, it could be a sabotage from another country.

Step one: you cut off their internet. Step two: you cut off their heads.

What you you cut off between steps one and two and where you leave them is up to the dictator in charge.

No, they are not. The Syrian army practiced chemical shelling in presence of Iranian commanders already in late summer, if I recall the date correctly. Huge stockpiles of chemical ammunitions have been relocated even earlier and moved into territories the ethnicity supporting Assad hopes to be able to hold in the future of this war.

I think only the fear that NATO would follow Turkey's demand and start an air campaign of some kind if Assad uses chemicals so far has prevented him to use chemicals.

Yes but only in the Damascus area.

The way they are pounding parts of Damascus from the air, I bet it turning into a ghost town. Nothing but rubble, in some areas.

More than likely but I'm wondering how long those loyal to Assad will be prepared to destroy areas and civilians in their own country.
