Hello friends. I have the original DVD and i want to do another install of SH3.

But the program says i already have SH3 installed.

Thats true.

My Question is, how can i do another install of SH3?

I have SH3 installed with GWX Gold, and i want to do another install with Living Silent Hunter mod. Can Anyone help me out?

I already have the mod on my harddrive friend. The problem is that SH3 installation program does not let me install another copy of SH3 (Vanilla) on my hard drive.

You should have a separate folder entitled SH3, copy and paste that.

If not, rename your existing folder temporarily then install the game again before naming it SH3b for example.

There is absolutely no need to install it twice. Just copy the whole folder of your vanilla installation and paste it somewhere else. Rename that one. After that, don't start the game. Get multiSH3 and put it into each folder. Execute multiSH3 in each folder to create different folders in /my docs.

Done!

Well, that is where the problems start. You need an unmodded SH3 to get LSH running properly.

If you have enough HDD space, copy your GWX, try to uninstall GWX in that copy and start from there.

If that doesn't work (likely), start from scratch.

If you have to start fresh, delete the folder in /my doc. Keep a copy of the fresh install for later use.

I can only repeat what I posted and support previous advice....if you don't have a stock SH3 folder, temporarily rename the folder with the GWX installation then reinstall SH3.

If you want further copies, rename the original a, b, c etc.

Jim, your way would be the fastest. But I am pretty sure the installation routine will still find the registry entries of the first install and will say "you already have SH3 installed"

If that is the case?
Copy the GWX installed folder and move it somewhere.
Copy the SH3 folder in My Docs and do the same.
Uninstall SH3 as you would for a clean install.
Re-install.
You now have a clean install AND a GWX still installed.
Use Multi-SH3 to use everything after proper renameing and moving of the folders.

I suggest useing SquareSteelBar's un-installers.
Saves alot of work!

As so many people want to re-install without losing and doing all the work for the different mods?

Maybe he could look into adding a feature to do the copy and save part?
:hmmm:

I'd see that as a fantastic tool for all the new uses who run into this problem!
:yeah:

May I add some experiences?

I once prepared a vanilla version as I wanted it, without the videos, without the not needed language (10'000+ files) etc. Then I zipped it into a selfextracting .zip file using 7zip. That takes less than 1 GB of space.

Whenever I need a fresh SH3 to start from, I use that file and within a couple of minutes I am finished. No disc needed. No install routine...

I've never installed SH3 on this NoteBook.
I'll copy my GWX install from the old DeskTop and just paste it to the NoteBook without doing an install.

Never tried it that way before.
:hmmm:

Don't be surprised if that works :yep:

Hope it does. Should have the Direct x 9c already so what else needs installed besides the main Game files?

When running WIN 7, directx_Jun2010redist.exe is a good thing and maybe some troubleshooting is needed, f.x. refreshrate 60 Hz instead of 59 when having a nvidia video card etc. That's all.
