Hi all,

I was looking through my speech & sound files in SH3 and there are files i've never herd the crew say..
EG: " We are being rammed " " Compresser Damaged " " Dives planes set for shallow dive "
Now I have the PC DVD-ROM version of SH3 installed with the 1.4 Patch and GWX3.0 Gold mod installed..
I also D/Loaded " Spirits of Machines Mod " unpacked it into " MODS " and it said to make it JSGME ready, copy the files inside the speech folder 1 through out 2- 9 which I did,and then activated using JSGME, but I can only get the sound of the rudders trimming or turning. I hear no battery charging,or any of the speech.
What have I done wrong? :wah:

Download link? Without knowing how the mod is assembled I can't help. Subsim doesn't know any mod by the name you stated. Although there is a thread about it a few years old.

Deactivate the mod in JSGME. That solves the problem, but removes the mod.

actually I have d/loaded Spirit of the Machines right here at subsim.

It's been uploaded by Sailor Steve.

I run it on top of SS_DBSM and SS_SH3_Speech fix and it works like a charm.
I simply love the procedure for starting the diesel engines. :up:

I have never been rammed, so far, but I did hear the CE's Compressor Damaged warning in German (I use the German speech option selected in the ingame options selector).

TheRoadTrain, as far as I understood I think you did things correctly while installing the Mod ...

Not all the sound files are used ingame.

Are you sure you did the copying part right? You should have under SilentHunterIII/mods/Spirit of machines/data/sound/speech folders 1 - 9 and in every folder a lot of .ogg files.

Potential cause could be Vista/Win7/Win8 preventing the copied files to stick, because the game might be installed in the Program Files folder. But that is quite a speculation on my part about your system. I'll let you confirm this first. Check what Sublynx suggested.

The readme also doesn't say anything about compatibility with GWX. But if I look at the files it contains, then it is pretty much only .ogg files. No config files or anything.

So when you d/loaded it,you just simply unzipped the mod and placed it in the MODS folder and activated it using JSGME? and it worked no problems?
And is it at the very top of your activated Mods list?
Yes I also have the voice effects set to German,it gives that nice Edge to the game when at sea :yeah:

Sorry about the typo mate..
I am running windows 7 ultimate,and have installed it using the games default destination "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\sh3.exe",along with GWX3.0 default install destination..
I right clicked on the SH3 with GWX3.0 desktop icon and clicked properties,clicked "compatiblity " and changed compatibility mode for windows 7..
I'm not familiar with .ogg files/meaning etc mates, sorry about that..

What I've done is
1. Downloaded the zipped Mod
2. Unzipped the Mod and placed it folders " MODS "
3. Copy all the sound files inside folder 1 " ChE_P_Dive_planes_.. " for example
4.Paste them in folders 2 - 9
5.Activated using JSGME
6. Loaded SH3 and played..

Whats happening is, I can hear only a few of the sound files through out the game... Theres a lot of Speech files I've never herd through-out the game and thats even b4 installing Spirit of machines Mod.
I'm just wondering if it nees re-installing in a different folder maybe?
