Protesters disrobed in front of San Francisco city hall in protest last week.
San Francisco lawmakers have voted to ban nudity in public places, ending a bitter dispute with a group of nudists.
City officials voted 6-5 in favour of banning anyone over five from exposing "his or her genitals, perineum or anal region" in most public locations.
"Freedom, expression and acceptance does not mean anything goes under any circumstances," district supervisor Scott Wiener said.
The ruling allows exceptions for certain street fairs and events.
A federal lawsuit has already been filed arguing the proposal infringes on free speech rights.

Isn't the one second from the left carrying a nude sign a female? :hmmm:
Maybe women do not want to show up for understandable reasons,:hmmm:

Yes, surrounded by 3 males. It looks to me the males are more exhibitionists than females.
Edit: upon further investigation, males comprise the majority of the exhibitionism in San Fran.

In the same way that allowing unions and corporations to give campaign money is free speech. The term should be freedom of expression. Next standing on someones lawn and fondling oneself will be a form of expression. See anything goes really when speech is more than the spoken, or written word.
^Those I have encountered have been happily proved. what they carry :)

Civil liberties campaigners are preparing to legally fight San Francisco's ban on public nudity. Does the US Constitution guarantee the right to walk the streets naked?
No sooner had San Francisco's lawmakers voted to ban nakedness in public places than a lawsuit was filed. It argued that the free speech of nudists was being restricted.
They do not give up, now used megaphone in extension, :hmmm:

It'S very simple. In our culture, public nudity simply is banned. Call it education, call it habit, call it what you want, but that's how it is. Taboos have the characteristic of causing feelings of being offended, confronted, challenged, attacked when being broken. No surprise there.
Personally, if in public space somebody confronts me in all his nature-given nudity, I feel offended for sure, and I rate it as a form of attack and intrusion of my private sphere and an assault on my shamefacedness (->Schamhaftigkeit). I react accordingly: angrily, aggressive, once I even attacked. And I do not plan to ever apologize for that.
A culture of arbitrariness is no culture at all. A culture is defined last but not least by rules, agreed consensus on certain habits, and so on. If all that gets declared as arbitrary and meaningless, you lose the sense of self-identity of that culture, because own identity has something to do with marking borderlines between what you are and what you are not.
If you want nudist culture, whatever value you see in that, do it in your private sphere. In your cabin, in your garden, or in those areas of some beaches in Europe or in Saunas that to the great surprise and shock of some American tourists :D are reserved for nudist. But if you think you must force me to witness your nudity in public, maybe even you copulating with somebody in public, all you can expect from me is a reaction that you will feel sorry over having become the target of it.
As a matter of fact, such a story already has happened to me, in summer 2000, in Berlin.
Well, Berlin.
^So to be naked in Berlin is thus quite alright,:88)

No, it even is legally forbidden. Law-wise it probably gets covered by "Erregung öffentlichen Ärgernisses".
