View Full Version : Weird bad weather issues

I did a search, can't find anything helpful, nothing quite the same as what I am experiencing.
During calm weather I am tooling around with a mixture of clear skies and sometimes scattered clouds. Normal stuff.
Every time I am in a storm (rough seas, high winds) the sky is 100% clear. I also have not seen rain yet. Or fog.
So basically I presume I am in the middle of a storm, but none of the environmental visual effects are working. Watch crew are in oilskins, boat is heaving like a mother... but absolutely clear sky and not a drop of rain.
I am using the GWX 3.0 mod, with 16km atmosphere, Lite Harbor Traffic, widescreen GWX3.0.
Any ideas?
Bad weather can last for weeks, while the fine weather may be in days, parameters are set, so there will be random, but if I remember correctly, there was a "fix" for it...in the past :hmmm:

Save the game and reboot the game.

Bad weather would last for ages and the boats would heave. Large swells, storms and high windspeeds would be a major problem. Best hope is to move away from the storm or swell which is hard to do. Just try and attack with it its part of the realisim but if you odnt like the lining up shot part turn off no stabalised view which will mean your sights arent efected by waves
Those storms are brutally irritating, persistent and
Unforgiving.
But that, for me, is the point.
The storms make it all so terribly miserable
And also immersive.
I can't make headway, attacking becomes soul destroying
Only to witness the torpedo explode en route
Or miss. Or just keep running beyond the target
Only to find out minutes later it exploded way beyond
The intended ship.
Then to dive. Conserve fuel, ride out the storm,
In the end achievement is little, reward even less
And the storm keeps blowing, and ships disappear
In the rain.
Leaves me feeling disheartened, and that's why I love it. :sunny:

Bad weather keeps the planes grounded, so there is one less thing to worry about.

Thank you all for replying.
However not one of you addressed the issues.
Please understand I am not complaining about the in game weather. I would love for it to be foggy, rainy and overcast. My problem is that so far, in over 5 cruises of my career I have yet to see any of those things. I get clear skies with calm seas, clear skies with heavy seas, patchy clouds with calm seas and that is it. Never seen fog, overcast, poor visibility of any kind.
Anyone actually know why my SH3 is just showing great, clear weather for 8 months of game time?
Thank you.

SH3 has always displayed questionnable weather....try GWX and you'll see a lot of fog at times.
When saving/reloading you reset the timer for weather change. So if you do that frequently in terms of game days then you'll keep the same weather. I can't remember what the time period is.
