Hi guys,
I haven't played SH 4 in quite a while so I decided to load it up again with the 1.5 patch and at random the sub will get damage beyond saving and it sinks..I am not using any mods yet.It isn't CO2 of crush depth that is causing it..Any ideas?
Thanks:wah:

I had that problem but way back in stock 1.0 before I knew about patches.
Sank to crush depth in Fremantle harbor. :o:o:o:o
Make sure you're 1.5 patch installed properly is all I can think off.

Are you trying to go back and play a previously saved game? If you have made any changes to the game since then - like upgrading to v1.5, or even installing a new mod - you can get unpredictable and often game-ending results. Try starting a new career/patrol/mission and see if you get the same problem. If you do, your SH4 installation may have gotten corrupted. In that case, try uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling. Test it without the v1.5 patch and see if it works. If that's ok, then add the patch and try it.
Good luck. Please post if you continue to have trouble.

Thanks Walleye,
I have tried it without the patch and got same results..I have re-installed the game twice now with no MODS..I wonder if Windows 7 has something to do with it?

I doubt its a Windows 7 issue- myself and many others here use SH4 on Windows 7 with no problems.
Is your copy of the 1.5 upgrade a physical copy, or is it a download version? I'm wondering if your download may have been corrupted somehow. (If you have a d/l version that is...)
Good luck. I'm sure folks here will keep trying to help get it worked out.

Edit-one other thing that just occurred to me; when you are un-installing make sure and clean the registry from the previous install. CCleaner is usually the recommended tool for that; its a free download, and pretty user friendly.

I too am running Windows 7 and don't have any problems. So your original install no longer works and re-installing doesn't work either. Registry corruption would seem like a possibility.

Dave, did you download your game from Steam? There seem to be a lot of problems reported on this forum with downloads from Steam. It seems that the basic game is not the most recent version (v1.4) and that the v1.5 patch may not compatible with it, especially if you got the patch from a different source. I believe Steam games are modified to run under the Steam run-time environment, and that may cause problems when used with patches or mods from anywhere else.
