USS Delaware announced as Navy's next submarine (http://www.newsworks.org/index.php/local//item/47230-uss-delaware-announced-as-navys-next-submarine/)

What? They're naming attack subs after cities now?:88)

Um, Delaware may be the second smallest, but it's still state. :sunny:

How about some diesel electric subs? We have four Victoria Class we can sell you if you want :haha:.

Please, take them.

Wonder why they never named a ship Delaware during WW2? There is a long history of ships with that name.

Because in WW2 they were already building the last of the battleships. Though the last Delaware (BB-28) was sold off in 1924 the name had not been reassigned yet, and other names got priority, either because they were ahead in rotation or (in the case of Missouri) because someone in power pushed for them.

Delaware is a great name for a submarine

I remember going through there on a Greyhound bus back in 1967
I was traveling from Newport News to go to school in Groton. Conn

The bus stops in Delaware and everyone gets out only to see a bus station full of slot machines lol

I couldn't believe it ... I don't know if they are still there now,
but they sure were then :yep:
