Post any fun or interesting facts here to stop people from being bored.
For example, here's one: I've changed my religion 7 times!
First, I was a Christian, then Atheist, then Christian, then Buddhist, then Christian, then Atheist, and finally, Christian!
And it was Richard Dawkins who made me a firm Christian!!

I am currently reading an antique book printed in 1875 by the US government about cholera outbreaks in America during the 19th century. In "Part Second" in chapter 4, about Travels of Asiatic Cholera in North America, it tells a little story about a Frenchman who lived near Quebec in 1832. It seems that Irish emigrants were streaming into Canada then, and they brought in the cholera - Canada not having any real quarantine system at the time. Before the outbreak in Quebec was finished over 2,200 people had died.
Anyway to the little story the book relates on page 564, as the cholera moved along the Saint Lawrence A ship passing Sorel had a cholera case on board where a man befouled his bed. This bed (mattress?) was thrown overboard into the river. And here is where our little bedtime story starts:
The mattress floated to shore, "and having been picked up by a man named Latour, was taken home as a prize. In twelve hours this man was dead from cholera, and in a few succeeding hours his entire family died."
This fat book is just loaded with many such stories. It keeps me occupied in my bathroom since I keep it for reading next to my toilet.
Kiddies, the moral of the story is that ignorance is not bliss.

I'm too bored to even post here .. but wait ..
we have been on an exhibition recently, about Minoan shipping and ships. Half the exhibition is about where the cities and trade centers were, the other half deals with the ships themselves.
The Minoan main civilisation was crushed during the eruption of the volcano of Thera, Minoans having one of their biggest trade and living centers there, and the following pyroclastic flow and tsunamis devastating the coasts of the neighbouring islands, including Crete.
The eruption is said to have 12 times the size of the Krakatoa explosion in 1883.
Hope i did not bore you more ...:03:

One time about 30 years ago I was escorting a combat engineer team on our bombing range. My only purpose was to simply "be there" for 16 hours a day for a week. :shifty:
I got so bored that I dug a hole. That's pretty bored. :yep:
By the end of the week, it was a dandy hole, if I do say so myself. Perfectly circular, smooth sides and a flat bottom. A hole to be proud of. :D
You know you are bored when you are so bored you would dig a hole. :haha:

I was so bored one time back in 68 while on my third patrol on the USS Ethan Allen SSBN 608 as sonar supervisor I classifed a twin engine diesel sound as a possible Whiskey submarine ... ding ding ding
The whole boat had to come alive for battle stations, but the good news was that I was no longer bored.
The chief told the captain that it was a fishing boat and everyone went back to their bunks.

Oh my mistake, I thought you said Borden's thread.
Well I played with the bow an arrow,, to point I can hit a 12inch square target at a 100ft with a compound recurve,,put a red dot sight on my sks, got to burn a few rounds to get it sighted in, last saturday was the first day of deer season here in New York and I got a coyote at 250 yards with my 270, the next day I got a shot on a nice buck but I didn't hit him hard enough with the sks, I slowed him down from a dead run to a walk, he left a good blood track, but there was no snow so I had to look for blood drops in the fallen leaves the blood stopped at a half mile into the track and I was lossing light,, heard a couple shots ahead of me when I lost the track I can only hope they got him,, well he would have been well tenderized,, now I'm bored., oh I got black powder to play with and you guys to mess with there is a god.

Speaking of deer ... perhaps a car got him lol
After checking with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department I found that they estimate there are about 26,000 to 28,000 deer killed on Texas highways each year.

Deer season is now on us, and the hunters will be out looking to get that trophy buck and have venison for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.
Each year some animal rights activist will complain about the needless slaughter of deer by the hunters. Needless? These deer are dressed out and taken home and eaten.
Speaking of deer ... perhaps a car got him lol
That's why they introduced the coyote into New York State now they are eating the neighbors cats like marshmellows the one I shot was pretty good size, he looked huge at the time I saw him at 300 yards, at best guess he weight at 50 lbs. It will won't be long till one of those critters gets a small child. You know why there are more car and deer hits, it's because there was more cars on the road,, the high gas prices have saved a many of deer. The main road runs through my dads farm usually there is eight or nine deer killed a year behind the house, this week one and a car spinning out in the front yard to miss a deer saw that from the bathroom window while taken a leak. Not a dull moment on the farm.

I once smoked a cigar stuffed with an ounce of weed by myself.
On top of a 12 pack of natural ice (the premier beer of white trash)
I then drove 90 miles to Atlantic City, down a highway (drunk, and too stoned for my own good), where the average speed is 90 mph. (garden state parkway aka NJ autobahn) where I lost my entire paycheck on roulette and women.
At least the hookers (yes plural) were worth it...
I miss being a teenager...
If I tried that now I would be dead, or divorced.
Aging sucks...
get that PT mod done ??????

And some of us get paid for boring. People ask me why I do what I do cause it seems so boring. Bottom line: boring is good and the man pays me for boring: if it's not boring, I'm no longer on plan 'A'...which is to have a boring shift and take a paycheck home; how boring is that? Whatever I'm boringly watching over will be at the end of the shift as it was left at the beginning of the shift. Well... occasionally I do turn out the lights and on one occasion I actually watered the Budweiser Clydesdales (San Diego team) at midnight (the tired crew knew I could handle it!) at a local faire!:smug: Had to watch out for Ringo the Dalmationhttps://simplymarvelous.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/budweiser-dalmation3-1.jpg?w=470-he's nasty! https://simplymarvelous.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/clydesdalesparade.jpg?w=470 https://simplymarvelous.wordpress.com/2008/02/17/about-the-budweiser-clydesdales/ (https://simplymarvelous.wordpress.com/2008/02/17/about-the-budweiser-clydesdales/)
