Well I figure there are a few Mad Max fans here at subsim and there is no thread
yet about the series and the new film currently in the works "Mad Max Fury Road".
So anything Mad Max goes talk about the old films talk about the new film talk about the cars whatever.
I try to avoid hyping up a movie so long as Fury Road has the same carnage as the previous Mad Max films and does not go nuts with CGI I will be pleased.
Here is a link to the internet movie database page for "Fury Road":

I arrived late to the Mad Max party, prolly 12-15 years ago but then loved them - even Tina didn't spoil it for me. I tried when I was a teen but got bored easily with a scruffy guy in a cobbled together car or bike and just didn't get it.
Didn't know there was another coming out, hopefully out won't be to ruined with CGI and a crap cast.

The top vehicle with all of the speakers on it I wonder what that is for.:hmmm:
Remember the dog that Max has in the Road Warrior? Well that dog was from a local pound and they trained him for the film
but he really disliked loud noises and would relive himself when he got disturbed so they made special ear plugs for him one
of the camera operators ended up adopting the dog when they finished filming.

Mel Gibson is not going to be in the new one and I don't really care what he or any actor does in their personal life
I don't need a role model I need to be entertained.
When I see a movie I'm watching the characters.Even with all of his money Gibson clearly is not a happy person.
I think many people are good actors but are idiots in every other respect.

The first Mad Max was a good movie. Nothing like a can of Dinky Di Dog food for dinner.
Mel has been in several great movies but he has gone off the deep end lately. Maybe success does that to some people.

I see it differently. Back in 1970 there were huge arguments over why the Beatles broke up. I said that it's simple: The same gene that makes people creative also makes them mercurial - alternately feeling superior, inferior, depressed, hyperactive, and sometimes all at the same time. The more talented someone is, the crazier they are.

The group was on the way out. There are many reason stated but we will never really know for sure. Does anyone think McCartney would throw Oko under the bus? I don't. Specifically after the death threats directed at John. One of the threats followed through.

Even Paul is on record as saying it wasn't Yoko's fault. It had to do with individual ideas and business and musical disagreements. John wasn't the only one who tried to quit before the final breakup came. Yoko was just a symptom.

Yes she was. But you didn't say that. What I reacted to was
Yoko ono was the reason for the break up.
I lived through it all. I hated Yoko along with the rest of the world. Then I read what John said about Paul. Then I read what George said about Paul. Then I read what John said about himself, and what Paul said about himself.
My original point was what I said - that creative people are mercurial people. Truly creative people have problems, with themselves and with others. That's the real reason the Beatles broke up, and my point was to relate that to Mel Gibson's troubles. Everything else is a symptom of the disease.

I lived through it as well. My family was not much of a Beatles fan. I recall the day of the shooting. The qualms with Yoko. But it is neither here nor there. Being married, we can understand the influences of our significant other. Sometimes a band just knows when it is time to call it quits. I will not argue your point that peoples personalities and ideas on where a band should evolve are often very different thus creating a split. As much as people credit John for the song writing Paul was fantastic in his own right.

That's always been weird to me. John was more blues and rock oriented, but wrote some great pop songs in spite of it. Paul was more pop oriented, and a lot of people put him down because of it, but he wrote some great blues stuff too. Both were great, but together they had a genius that couldn't be matched.
On the other hand my late friend Rocky thought everything the Beatles did was too 'pop', and preferred the Stones. Can't say as I blame him; I love 'em all. :sunny:

I think Yoko Ono gets the blame for the break up when more they(the Beatles)already where having differences.Besides I think some of the best music from John,Paul and George came
after the break up anyway.

Looks at least like it will be as good or better than the first two films the preview alone is already far superior to the third film.
Of course you never know for sure so I never allow myself to get too hyped about a film. I just go in expecting to be entertained. In this day and age people get deep into hyping. I'm thinking that this will follow the feel set in the second film and what the third film tried to capitalize on but failed.

I wonder as well how much CGI the will use. Of course good bit but Miller is famous for using live action stunts as well and evidence implies that there will be a good deal of it this film too. So im guessing a nice balance of CGI and live action.
Interesting to see if they can pull it off.
I mean, lets be real, most of the good 80s and early 90s action stuff were B+ movies. Commando, Robocop, Mad Max, Predator, they all had that tongue-in-cheek approach and I think that element is missing from a lot of movies these days. They simply take themselves too seriously.
Maybe it works, maybe it doesnt. Looking at how poorly the other reboots have done, I don't hold my breath. Will see it eventually just out of curiosity.

Most Reboots of recently haven't been made by for example the same writer/director. I don't think Miller is someone who is going to mess it up big time but then again I could be wrong.
I do agree on the fact that most movies these days and reboots are trying to have that ''People are awesome'' Factor with characters that take themselves too seriously. Nearly invulnerable, indestructable always on top doing nothing wrong untill that bit near the end where ''ow noess he might....ow..no scratch that he's fine'' moment happens for a brief moment.
It keeps rolling and no matter how good Daniel Craig (or insert other Bond name here) is...he'll never be better than Connery.
While I find Connory is very classy, it's imo not as good as Daniel Craig who does a very good job being very close to the novel Bond then any before him. As the above I found most previous bonds to be nearly intouchable whilst Craig doesn't show he is but shows to be quite destructive for his surroundings and himself. While Goldeneye due nostalgic reasons for me is one of my favorite installments the Casino Royale and Skyfall are right up there in the Top 3 and hopefully Spectre will join that soon.

I'm with Hunter here.
Not that I don't like Connery as Bond, I just hate the goofines and outright unbelievability in the early bonds and the nineties Bonds.
Connery had laser wielding villains in volcanoes, Brosnan had watches that cut steel and shoot triping wires.
Craig chased down a parkour expert with an excavator. Action, not fairy tales.

Have to agree with the others on Craig he is a more gritty get the job done at any cost Bond. Much closer to the books character.
As to Mad Max I didn't mean that I have low expectations I'd not waste my time if I felt a film was sure to be crap. I mean that I approach a film with neutral feelings and an open mind. I'm not going in expecting them to have read my mind and made the exact film I want as this impossible even if I had a huge budget as all films are edited and things are cut and changed.
