Forget texting while driving. German police say they nabbed a driver who had wired his Ford station wagon with an entire mobile office.
Saarland state police said Friday the 35-year-old man was pulled over for doing 130 kph (80 mph) in a 100 kph zone while passing a truck Monday. Built on a wooden frame on his passenger seat they found a laptop on a docking station tilted for easy driver access, a printer, router, wireless internet stick, WLAN antenna, and an inverter to power it all.

A navigation system and cellphone mounted to the windshield completed the array. Since there was no evidence he used the office while moving, he got away with a €120 ($153) speeding ticket and a possible fine for having unsecured items in his car.

Some precision from the German original news: the whole array of technology was SWITCHED ON. I was a little bit outraged by that they left him off the hook due to doubts that he actually had used them during driving.

He was also reported to have racing with 200 km/h and was totally undiscerning, in fact was described by police to be angry and even hostile towards the patrol, complaining about missing some meeting.

According to my rule book, such people, and Autobahn racers in general, are prime candidates to lose their license for two years, then having to redo full driving school lectures for full fees. Plus a full psychological examination and character assessment. I honestly believe that some people should be banned for life from being allowed to drive cars in public traffic.
