Damn it, all I eat is wonder bread....Damn unions.

Not to mention my wife is losing her job at Baptist, one of the 950 to be let go.

It was more of a part time job anyway, thankfully we have our dog kennels.

I do hope this is a business venture rather than an extreme solution to foreclosure :D

I'm sorry to hear about your wife losing her job, but the unions didn't put Hostess out of business. Shoddy management did. They were already going out of business anyways, and the strike was to hold on to the pensions that the hedge funds and private equity firms were trying to take away before going under.

The company's assets would be worth more to them if they didn't have to pay out those pensions, so naturally they wanted to get those out of the picture.

Does this mean I can't buy Twinkies anymore?

Good thing I have a 20-year supply stockpiled.

Good thing they're made out of 10% food and 90% preservatives.

Christie smells setup, won't answer Twinkie query
http://news.yahoo.com/christie-smells-setup-wont-answer-twinkie-query-200737647.html

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he wasn't about to take the bait: a question dealing with that quintessential junk food, Twinkies.
So when asked Friday at a news conference about Twinkies-maker Hostess shutting down, the target of many a fat joke begged off.
The governor quipped: "I know it! You people are the worst! This is a setup! I am not answering questions on Twinkies, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's bad that I even said the word 'Twinkie' from behind this microphone."
Christie has tried for years to lose weight and often jokes about his caloric struggles. He once likened his weight loss efforts to "throwing a couple deck chairs off of the Titanic."
But Friday he said he wouldn't provide more fodder to comedians.
"You know," he said, "I'm on 'Saturday Night Live' enough."

The demise of another American icon? Maybe not if we have assistance from the superheroes:

I had a Twinkie a couple years ago. It was absolutely vile. It tasted like a chemical laden sponge. Disgusting.

Never had a Twinkie but my lad once brought me a Hershey Bar from the US and I found it to taste like.....lets just say 'nothing very pleasing to the palate'.

Hostess is to cakes as Hershey's is to chocolate. :shifty:

I always liked to hold them by the frosted top and eat the cake and filling first. The tops are fairly hard chocolate so it's easy to eat them last. :sunny:

I'd do just the opposite. First a quick nibble around the edges then i'd peel the top right off, eating the cake last. Dark chocolate mmm mmm!

Yikes almost $5.00 per pound. I never thought about it from that standpoint.

My very favorite Hostess quality snack back when I was hungry at a 7-11
in LA back in the 90's.

This could really fill you up and drain a big Gulp at the same time.

Same thing, tried one once Never again! ,I've never had anything with so many chemicals and so little actual food content in my life... - good thing though is if you eat them all the time and die ,there wont be any need to get embalmed before being buried :D

I'll wager that someone buys up the recipies, and maybe even the names themselves. We haven't seen the last of Twinkie the Kid.

What's gonna happen to all the Deep Fried Twinkie Vendors across the U.S.A. now?

More unemployment and businesses going broke!

Too many garbage carbs. Saves me the hassel of saying "no" when we pass them in the store.

I will miss the hostess pies though (cherry):dead:. My favorite vending machine food.

Those are the most valuable assets the company owns. These are what the private equity firms who broke up the company were after.

No man, my mom died in 82 and my father in 78 ... :dead:

I'm an old man lol :)

I was delivering phone in LA back 92 with only a few dollars in my pocket and only a few minutes to get something to last me to walk the fifty more blocks I had to walk to deliver LA phone books.

I needed something like those coconut snowballs to get me through the journey
