This is plain stupid, I'm so sorry things have gotten to this:
Victoria's Secret sorry for headdress faux pas (http://www.hlntv.com/article/2012/11/13/victorias-secret-apologizes-faux-pas?hpt=hp_c2)
Victoria's Secret has apologized for its use of a Native American headdress during its annual fashion show after the company was roundly criticized for the outfit's poor taste and willful cultural ignorance.
Supermodel Karlie Kloss strutted down the runway for the 17th annual fashion show, wearing a skimpy cheetah-print bikini with an enormous feathered Native American-style headdress and turquoise jewelry. The fashion show was taped in New York on November 8.
Critics immediately seized on the footage of the show, citing the company's lack of cultural sensitivity and ignorance of tribal customs and traditions.

The point is you pay attention to the clothes, not the women.
That's why they look like hangers.
Regarding the story itself, it's really a non-story. Mildly ham-handed stereotypical display meets offended party. Add in pictures of lingerie models and CONTROVERSY ENSUES. If this happened at a microwave oven trade show we wouldn't be reading about it.
Funny that a thread about political correctness was begun with a news article that exists solely to show pictures of lingerie models. Notice how the model and lingerie company have plenty of quotes and links to their pages in the article - but the people who complained or got offended are just labelled "critics".

I believe some people will try to find anything offensive so they can state so. If this is the case let's have these same offended folks go after every sports team that associates itself with the American Indian.
Let's start with the Redskin(which some have voiced displeasure)
And just why are we offended by a "Indian Summer" :hmmm:

More of Nanny land.
Honestly I think part of PC's "popularity" (or what ever) is that many people these days just like to find something freaking to complain about.
I think that PC is a pile of crap and for most it is just a way for people to toot their own horn and feel special.
"Oh look at me I call black people African Americans and when my kids team losses a game I give them a great effort trophy." Screw that there is a difference between having common sense and acting like an idiot.
I find the whole ethnic part to be especially stupid I have/have had many friends from various backgrounds and none of them cared about that crap.I hate the terms for ethnic groups White?what the hell is a white person I have never seen a white person in my life.African American that name makes no sense unless the person just became a US citizen and was from the African continent and then it is still stupid Why not South African American or Niger American(oh that one is so un PC) but the guy from Chad next to Niger the Chad American he fits in with PC well.I have never seen a Hispanic person in my life either I have seen Mexicans,Peruvians, Colombians to name a few before.Same goes for Asian never seen an Asian before.I have seen plenty of human beings in my time.(sorry to those who feel offended by being called a human being)
If anything by using PC ethnic names you ignore the persons heritage but oh yes PC thinking says that a Russian might feel like a lesser person by being called a Russian.
I wonder what is the PC word for idiot?

"I don’t know about you, but I usually spend this time of year parading around in my Navajo Hipster panties, feather headdress (on loan from Karlie Kloss and Gwen Stefani), Manifest Destiny T-Shirt and knee high fringed moccasins made in Taiwan while watching a Redskins game, smoking a pack of American Spirits and eating genetically modified Butter Ball turkey, because I’m just that traditional."

I disagree. I think that lawyers just take advantage of PC if someone feels that their "PC rights" have been violated and threatens a law suit they are really just greedy and seeking money.
I can honestly say that the level PC in the military was certainly a factor in my decision to separate.
We had this airmen in my flight go AWOL so I went with another NCO and the first shirt(top enlisted man) to go to his room and wake him up if he was there. He was there and drunk so we made him get up crap, shower and shave the first shirt then had us go to the chow hall so the guy could have a good breakfast to start his now very lousy day.
Anyway the airman grabbed a tray and just flopped his food onto the try on purpose so the first shirt asked why he had flopped the eggs onto the tray the Airman replied "that is how I F---- like them." well first shirt simply smacked the bottom of the tray and sent the contents of the tray flying and had the guy clean up the mess and then go back and use proper manners when getting his food and to display proper military bearing when speaking to an NCO.
Honestly the airmen deserved what happened to him but someone went and complained about it first to the Squadron commanding officer who felt that nothing had been done unjustly so the whoever it was went to the JAG and they investigated it nothing was done to the first shirt but myself the other NCO and the first shirt got a "speech" more or less about PC. The airmen himself actually said a few days later that he was glad that he got the reaction for his attitude from the first shirt after that day he went from being one of the worst troops to being one of the best so that lack of PC dont hurt anyone's feeling actually did him some good.

I hate PC. I laugh at being called a NJ guinea. I love rascist jokes. I love any kind of edgy humor, even if it offends my own "race"
Yeah spaghetti, and last names ending with vowels, or English guys doing over the top American impersonations, hilarious. I once saw a show with Ricky Gervais doing a mock American accent, and killing us, it was freaking hilarious.
I like racial humor, black, white, American Indian, even Oz Aboriginal jokes, I laugh my sick twisted ass off.
Comedy should have no rules.

I have a friend who happens to be black (yeah, the color is incidental, and only relevant to this story). Anyway, I was telling him some jokes one day, and I worried a little about going over any lines. He smiled and said "Steve, you can say anything you want to me, as long as it makes me laugh."
On the other hand, if someone is offended by something you say, which is better - to apologize, and explain your humor, or to tell him to shut up and let you insult him, because it's your right?

Yet you would never know it here. It is not acceptable here.

Not being disrespectful at all, though by the time this post is done you may want to spit on me. I apologize beforehand.
How far back does the whiteman have to be sorry for, which is the root of this PC crap.
My family came to this country from Italy somewhere after WW1.
Yet I am blamed for slavery and the treatment of the American Indian.
That is my frustration with PC crap.
I never enslaved anyone, I did not captain the Amistead, nor did not give anyone smallpox blankets, nor was I on the boat with Cortez, or Columbus. Yet I am lumped in that crowd because I am white.
Minorities have it damn good in this country, just ask our affirmative action laws, and Indian Casino owners, stuff my white oppressor ass will never get. Even though I never oppressed...
(strong opinionated language ahead. But the Italians and Irish were below negroes for a long time in this country, wheres our help, and freebies?) We also built this country, with zero thanks to this day.

Regarding Italians and Irish i am not sure at that time, but in the more recent years ? I think this official segregation thing went right into the 1960ies, and some still have issues with 'assimilation' of black people - not that they were even allowed to assimilate, or be in the US voluntarily at all initially ..
I would never accuse or hold someone of today responsible for anything like that, unless he's plain racist.
Most people came to the US to escape Europe with its narrow states and way of thinking, for religious reasons (being harassed in E.) but a lot more for economic reasons. They were poor or in danger of famine, and wanted to make a new start.
Regarding building the US do not forget the Chinese (railroads!) .. :hmm2:

Segregation is a stain on what was a good society. It frustrates me alot of these 1950s ideaologies still exist.
Like you said Chinese built the railroads, they exploited them, alot died.
Irish used to drive the nitroglycerin wagons, alot of them blew up from going over a bump. Though they were paid more. They were above a Chinaman. Even a negro in those days were above a Chinaman.
You can look at the history of any country, and find horrible things.
This country is founded on the the exploitation of immigrants and poor. You see it even today.
Look at the cheap labor Mexicans supply, and the longstanding ignoring of our immigration laws by our government. Wouldn't want to piss of the moneyed titans.
It is almost as if our heavy PC environment comes from what I call white guilt. The realizations our history is terrible. We cried liberty, yet treated people like crap if you were not a WASP.
Oh how I wish we could replace PC with CS.

Well Stealhead, I never intended to say they were all Apache in that pic. Its nice to see someone like yourself take the time to know the men in the pic, from Cheif Joseph, Sitting Bull, Geronimo and Red Cloud.
Its an inside joke amongst ourselves, that when we meet non-Indians for the first time, that they always tell us they know someone named Joe (or whatever) and he is a (insert the name of any tribe here) invariably he is an Apache. And we get along just fine with our Apache brothers, we just tease them on how popular they are among non-Indians.:DI guess we get jealous at times, lol

I know what you mean my wife was born in the Ukraine and has very mild Ukrainian accent even though she has lived most of her life in the US. When people find out where she is from she gets a similar "I know this that or the other Ukrainian person" as if it is some how relevant.
