Besides the awesome commercial that I've watched 20 times and enjoyed each time, the game is released today. If anything could move me to get an X-box, this is it.

To be fair, it looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than MW3, but that isn't very hard now is it...

I've actually asked my dad to buy it for me while he's in NYC. I figure if I don't have to pay for it personally, I won't feel too guilty :haha::haha:

My opinion on the whole COD series is that they are nice singleplayer games, the whole atmosphere in MW3 with the invasion of New York, the attack on the Oscar II, very nice. With MW2 you have the nuclear explosion in space, and some very cinematic scenes. It may be on rails somewhat, but then again so are most FPSs and at least there is some attempt at realistic modelling of units, even if their deployment (an Oscar II that close to shore?) is perhaps a bit suspect (suddenly, Russians, thousands of them).

Multiplayer is...well, it's the Mos Eisley of the online FPS world. So probably best avoided, but I'll say this for the makers of COD, they can tell a story, and tell it cinematically, and make Michael Bay jealous. It's not going to win any Oscars or literature prizes, but it sure looks good.

Now if only they'd do one for a Cold War gone hot in West Germany...wouldn't be a particularly long game though, four days of retreating followed by nuclear apocalypse. :hmmm::haha:

This game actually looked like they got the campaign right. I won't buy it just yet. Chances are I'll borrow it and then decide for myself if I really want it. Did they release a demo?

I always enjoyed the early CoD games. Mostly because the early games involved WWII. The newer games, of which I have Black Ops, did not grab my attention for long.

Haha this game is a cluster-****!! Not only does it not work, freezes, crashes and lobby loops, but the textures are blurrier than crap, like it's running in 640x480 with the mip sharpening at +50 not -5 like it should be. Compare xbox and ps3 screen shots and the difference is night and day.
Not too bad of a game in itself. but still has many of the lag compensation/hit detection issues of MW3.

But I only jest; if my professors graded like IGN does, I'd have a PhD by now. :smug:

Well.. uh.. I went ahead and bought it few days back, solely for the MP to have
something "brainless" to play for 30min every once in a while and you know
what? I actually kiiiinda like it. The MP is ridiculous, but not the kind of
ridiculous you've probably seen in the Modern Warfare games. It's more of a
Quake or Ultimate Tournament kind of ridiculous. It's fast paced, run & gun,
type of game obviously, but like I said, it's not as ridiculous as some of the
stuff seen in Modern Warfare. It's fair in that if you can't get your crosshairs
on the target faster than the other guy, you'll die. :yep:

Only downside IMHO are the killstreak abilities. Some of them are way
overpowered, like the.. err.. Lod.. something. Lodestar?

It's not a realistic shooter, it's far from it. But it's quite relaxing if you dont
take it too seriously.

Also, you can hide the chat and mute all voice comms if you want, which is
very nice. (recommended)

But, to sum it up: It's ridiculous, but it can be quite fun (if you dont take it too seriously).

Oh and for the completionists, as with some other COD's, once you hit the rank
cap (55), you can go back to rank 1 and gain 1 prestige rank. That goes up
to prestige 10, and if you go up to rank 55 with that, you get the prestige 11
rank, which unlocks everything for you (IIRC).

Anywho, yes, I'm a hypocrite, but I do like it for what it is. Quake/UT/Q3 with modern weapons. :yep:

(price sucks though)

PS. Played the singleplayer portion for 20 minutes, it was completely silly.
No idea how it goes from there.

I bought Black Ops 2 a few days after christmas with my gift cards.

I love this game. I don't know why you people hate them. I don't play MP online. It's a good game to play offline with your friends.

The campaign was great!!!!! :arrgh!: And I say it was worth the 40 USD I paid for it.

(Best Buy had a sale going on...)

And this next sentence is just for Cybermat47.... I passed up Halo 4 to get Black Ops 2. They were the same price and I chose Black Ops 2. :cool:

If you dont play MP, or splitscreen you wont notice it but check this out.
This is what you see when you play online, and its in splitscreen/Combat training as well, no matter how you play it. Both of these vids clearly show a problem.

This is why so many people are up in arms over this game, there is enough lag in seeing the other persons model/hitbox that they can kill you before you ever see them pop out or come from behind cover. Impossible to play a game when what you see is 1-3 seconds different the what the "host" sees. You think you shot 1st, but in reality you are already dead. As soon as someone fires you die, due to the inbuilt lag, and you see instadeath. But from hosts perspective he fired a half a clip.
I can handle losing a gunfight but to never had a chance even when you think you got the jump on them?

My brother brought his 360 over and we played some splitscreen (never again!). There was considerable lag between the 2 of us; we both noticed it.

Not a clue. All I can say for sure is that playing this on a 360 is absolutely terrible.

It isnt bad for me...I have the latest patch (I think) and it works fine.

I don't know what causes it so it's pointless to argue over whether it lags or not on who's xbox. :doh:

I like the campaign...a lot. I didn't expect much and I loved it. I think it is the best one yet. :arrgh!:

The only complaint is the hit marker that pops up when you shoot somebody. Drives me crazy. :dead:

I, personally, prefer the Modern Warfare games. I like games were if you shoot someone some blood comes out (for realism), but not so much when the limbs start flying :o

EDIT: And in Modern Warfare you play as a Pommie most of the time. I love Pommies :)

Don't get me wrong...Halo is good. I enjoy them. I just don't keep up with it anymore. I haven't played Halo in a few years.

That right there is what is called realism. When the limbs start flying it adds immersion. If anything in CoD could be called realistic that is...

I also take your age into consideration here. Most 13 year old kids out there love Halo and (the normal ones) don't like a lot of distracting blood/gore. I don't care if there is blood/gore or not, but it does add to the effect of living a war. It's just a phase. You'll grow out of it like i did. I went from Halo to CoD to simulations. Sims never get old. You remind me of myself when I was 13. You're not bad kid. :up:
