View Full Version : Stationary ships.... Campaign Problem?

Hi there.
I really don't know if it's just my paranoia - or if I'm not installing mods correctly (of which i'll provide a full list bellow, in load order), however any light you guys shine on this situation would be just dandy.

Being an ardent SH3 player (played that to death) I recently went out and bought SH4 & 5.... Playing wolves of the pacific, not wanting to settle for a lesser-stock experience, I immediately installed the Trigger Maru Overhaul mod using JSGME. However, after some time I noticed that ships simply were not moving. They'd just sit there. Their engines would rumble and churn, but the ship itself simply wouldn't move....EVERY SHIP :hmmm:. Entire task forces and convoys immobile in one spot, until I startle them, and they begin their search patterns. After a bit of head scratching I decided to leave it for now and give SH5 a try. After installing an assortment of mods (from the beginners sticky on the modding forum), I disabled the tutorial and went out on my first patrol.

I'm still on it actually.

However, I'm realising (more and more) that the harbour traffic doesn't appear to be moving - at all. An Ill timed time acceleration caused me to simply phase through a ship, that never turned or accelerated out of the way (as you would expect in SH3) Turning to sail down the Kiel Canal, I see there are multiple ships, but again - none appear to move.

Is there a bug at foot here? Or is it common to find a lot of ships sitting still in the Kiel canal? This is all very early campaign... Is this an accessibility tactic/game-play 'feature' to ease new players into sinking ships? My difficulty is on realistic...

Hi ScramUK and welcome to subsim:salute:

Ships getting stuck in the harbours and in the canal is a common thing for us all.
They just do not like crashing into each other and when land is close it makes it worse.
Many poeple have looked at this, but none have found a better solution - so the ships will stop rather than crash.

A save load can get them moving agian until they get close to the next object:arrgh!:

Unfortunately it's an imperfect game in an imperfect world. You should fare better once you put to sea, but in the meantime, the save/load is probably your best bet.
