Which game released in 2012 do you rate as your most favourite one, cause you liked it that much and consider it to be that good and looking so stunning, or whatever your reasons are?
My choice is easy, since Skyrim is invalid (November 2011). And so I am left with the magnificent VIRTUAL POOL 4. Superb realism. Superb physics. Superb handling and playability. Two dozens versions of pool, billiard, and snooker. Superb graphics. 8 locations, 6 different sized pool tables (tables can be tailored in even more detail in the options), billiard table (4 versions of carom), snooker table, British pub table (and yellow-red balls), video lessons, 3 play modes, internet tournaments coming up, plus the unique power control via mouse movement (no buttons, sliders on scales or such) - you cannot simulate an object of a sim any better than it is done here. It behaves, does and looks like the real thing. Even a formula got published that allows you to calculate the correct angle of FOV (to be set in the options), depending on your monitor'S width and your average distance between eye and monitor surface. Your FOV should match your FOV when you lean over the real table and have your chin on the real queu. And you know what? It does!
I train with it every day. Served my positional play well. This sim can really train you to take care of not just potting object balls, but trying to get your play ball in good positions to continue play with the next shot. :yeah: It also trains you for proper judgements when and when not to use Follow, Draw and English, and how much.

It's awesome! :yeah:

The continuing updates to Kerbal Space Program!

You know, I'd probably have to go with that. The game is still in alpha, and is already mind-blowingly good.
The appearance and bizzare explosion of DayZ is probably event of the year in gaming. It's still not quite complete, but it definitely created a phenomenon that should put modding back on the map as a major force for the industry to reckon with to years to come. Hopefully the final product of it is good, too.

Yep. I'd wish people would use the global forum index more often.
That aside, I'd go with Kerbal for 2012 as well. Good stuff, that.

XCOM! Very challenging, lots of weight on every decision.
Xcom is good one.
I haven't bought games for aged and this one is well worth it , regardless of all the ranting about it being dumbed down.
Actually i find it very comfotable to play it with xbox controler...getting old and lazy lol

Probably Faster than light.

Devs put up a kickstarter for their game, got the low amount they wanted and more and put out a really really good little game. Probably one of the best indie games of the year.

2012 was a pretty lackluster year for gaming. Lots of anticipated titles, and most of them turned out to be dog poo.
That said, Max Payne 3 was pretty damn good. I'd recommend anyone play that game.
Now here's to hoping BioShock: Infinite turns out all right.:hmm2:

I disagree, as of now:
Sleeping Dogs
Assassin's creed 3
Need for Speed Most Wanted
SpecOps the Line
Halo 4
Max Payne 3
Crusader Kings 2
Ghost Recon future Soldier
Mass Effect 3
etc
Lots of good titles this year, more than I can list really

I don't know which one to choose.
Medal of Honor Warfighter
Halo 4
I'll get to GR Future Soldier eventually.
I'm sure there's others but I just don't remember.
Rainbow Six, last I checked, was Jan 1st and Splinter Cell is April 1st and I don't remember when Aliens Colonial Marines releases.

It's very rare that I buy a new game, and I think the only 2012 stuff I've got is (hang on, 2011, 2011, 2011, . . . ) DCS P-51. So, err, that'd have to be my vote. :03:
Ask me in a couple of years which 2012 title I like.

I'm the same exact way. Ive only bought like 3 new games in the past 6 years.
Portal 2, Skyrim, and the third is going to be Medal of Honor Warfighter (I have yet to buy it)
All my games i buy are old and cheap or used. I'm just about to get Dangerous Waters on amazon for 6 bucks.

If you don't game a lot, I suggest you stay away from MOH warfighter
Ignoring single player (even the devs admit it is secondary to the multiplayer), the game has some great concepts, but the execution falls short. examples like inertial aiming is interesting to say the least, but the execution leaves much to be desired.
You are probably better off spending the money on Hitman or Call of Duty, or even the new Splinter Cell
