Hello gentlemen
So several years after purchasing silent hunter 5 via steam (fooled me once) I have returned with a new DVD version that fails to launch with the Uplay service (fool me twice).
I have patched to 1.2 however once I launch SH5 via Uplay the opening cinematic plays (without sound) in the upper left 40% of my screen. I am then returned to uplay for an after game report informing me if my total play time of 2 minutes. I cannot interact with SH5 in any other way.
I have searched both the forums and Google without m luck. My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.
Thanks for your time.

Uninstall.
Remove SH5 Documents Folders.
Remove Ubi/Uplay Program folders.
Reinstall.
Patch.
See what happens. Hope it works. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I wiped all trace of ubisoft and SH5 from my system and reinstalled; Same outcome. Hats off to Ubisoft! You sold me the same game twice and it hasn't worked either time.

Hmm. You have a very similar system as I do; except the processor - I have quad core intel. But my previous computer was AMD Athlon X2, so I can say that it should work.
How are you screen settings? What kind of monitor are you running it on and what settings in the ATI Control Panel do you have, because I can't really think of anything else affecting...

G'day Crooked,
I had similar (yet a little different) trouble when I installed the game, I'll go through some old posts and see if I can find what worked for me.

Unfortunately that didn't work. I even tried re-installing Steam and the downloadable SH5 which used to work (prior to uplay) Now that doesn't work anymore either. Same error.

After uninstalling did you check your registry for any SH5 entries?
Many stock 'un-install" programs are very lax when it comes to the registry.
hope this helps.
