I want my SH3 to look normal, and don't actually care if it fills the entire screen on my Acer laptop (1366 x 768). I tried the Hi res fix d3d3 and while I enjoyed it (and it filled the screen for 3d shots) I had more than one CTD while playing. So something just aint right.

My problem running in stock fullscreen mode is that the image looks squeezed (not wide enough). I carefully measured the visible portion of my screen and it was 211 mm wide and 174 mm tall. If my visible screen is actually 768 pixels tall that means the width is about 931 pixels. Not 1024. My image ratio is 1.21, but 1024 x 768 is 1.33.

All my round items (dials, compass, clocks, periscope etc) are visibly oval, in the vertical sense. All the ships, crew, the sub and everything else in 3d looks way too skinny. The crew were apparenetly on 1/2 rations!

Does anyone know how to fix that? My efforts to modify the main.cfg did not change anything.

My laptop has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 1 GB of DDR3 memory, Nvidia 296.10 drivers (most stable ones available for this chipset), DirectX 11, Windows 7 Premium Home 64 bit.

Have you tried changing the flat panel scailing setting in the nvidia control panel if so equipped. 1.nvidia scaling which stretches to your screen resolution. 2. nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio. 3. do not scale. And, the documents\sh3\data\cfg\main.cfg [Video] Resolution ? x ? to your screen resolution. I think theirs no need to change the main cfg in sh3 dir because it overwritten anyway. I use my nvidia with the 1st setting, after experimenting around.
