On Tuesday afternoon, the Walt Disney Company announced in a press release shortly before its investor call that it would acquire 100 percent of LucasFilm LTD for $4.05 billion, in cash and stock. In the press release, Disney also said it would invest in a new film, Star Wars Episode 7, which would be released in 2015, "with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga and grow the franchise well into the future."

I was just about to post this.

Anyway, I'm wondering what their plans are for so-called Episode VII and subsequent movies. I'm not completely denying the possibility that they can make something good, certainly better than Episode I anyway, but if they toss out the EU in favour of making something new I shall be...extremely disappointed...

Here it comes.... Goofy with a lightsaber...

It won't take much - just make Jar Jar old....

If they're doing Episode 7 (8 &9) hopefully, it's the Timothy Zahn; "Heir to the Empire" series.

Or they could remake episodes 1-3:hmmm:.

Gosh, when will they finally let Star Wars die? They made 3 good movies 30 years ago, then they made another 3 average movies 10 years ago.. and since then they just keep releasing more games, cartoons, anything you can imagine with the name Star Wars. Now they are releasing even more movies onto the 6 already? They should let it go with some dignity.

If they (competently) adapt Zahn's Thrawn trilogy as Episodes VII-IX, that would be perfect, with the only real problem being who will play the original characters. Alas, I think it's rather unlikely that they will actually do it... :shifty:

Yeah, they're not getting any younger.

Hopefully, they don't "Lucas-it" and have some comic relief character:shifty: (see Jar-Jar). If they stayed true to the books :har::dead::/\\k:, and geared it for an adult audience, I have faith that they wouldn't ruin it:06::hmmm:

I love the new characters and storyline in that Zahn's series.

I'm just waiting to see what the characters on the "Big Bang Theory" will have to say about the merger and its effects on the franchise. There have been a lot of jabs at Lucas and the whole "Star Wars" franchise on the show...

Myself, I've never been a fan of the "Star Wars" films. I saw the original at a special showing for Japanese audiences in Los Angeles when the film first came out. There were Japanese subtitles running down the side of the screen. I have seen bits and pieces of the 2nd and 3rd films released, but have never really had the inclination to sit through any other films after seeing the first. Basically, what it boils down to is, Disney gets another marketing division and Lucs becomes even wealthier than he already is...

Don't believe everything on that show, as good and funny as it is there is at least one episode where Sheldon has Norton 360 on the shelf - totally unbelievable!

Sheldon is well known for his affinity to all things computer retro; a few of the episodes even have him trying to get other characters interested in playing text-based DOS games. It's kind of like someone who, although they have state of the art sound systemes, still want to play 45 singles...

Why? There's this one movie that did quite well called Avengers by Marvel,
who, btw, are owned by Disney the last I checked. Also, Iron Man 3 will be from
Disney owned Marvel. :03:

And seriously, after Ep. I-III, it was clear that Lucas had lost it. He made 3 good
movies (IV-VI) and then 3 movies (I-III) that completely pissed all over the
other ones.

Will Ep. VII rival the "old ones"? Of course not. But it is more about damage control
among the fans I would say. Ep. I-III REALLY ****ed up the canon.

But I liked Episode I...:06:
