I ran the "test" on my computer for Win8 and it will not supportSH3 or GWX. I am running Xp pro at present but will eventually upgrade to Win8. Any chance of a patch in the future?

A patch? From Ubisoft? Well, let me put it this way... :rotfl2: :har:

...um, no. But there may be hope. I'm told (I still have a very old 32-bit XP machine) that it also won't run on Win7 unless you install it outside of Program Files. I'm told that Win7 doesn't like anyone fiddling with Program Files, not even a little bit. I don't know if this is also true of Win8 or it just doesn't like SH3 at all, but if you have it installed to Program Files you might try putting it into the main drive folder.

I have 64 bit windows 7 and GWX is installed to my Program Files (x86).

Game works like a charm.

That's nice, but it doesn't help all the people who have had a problem. Do you have an answer to why Boatnik is having this problem?

I had Windows 7 pro just updated to Windows 8 pro. during set-up it asked if I wanted to "wipe it all and install 9 or keep current files. Kept them, just enjoyed a 8 hour (computer time) stalk of a convoy C27 NYGM with SH3 Commander, fired all four fwrd and hit three. Crash dived for reload and to avoid the escorts. So far GWX3, LSH, WAC and NYGM all systems go and SH4 is working.

I have also tested and run all versions of the game in Windows 8 from Silent hunter III to 5 even fully modded they all work maybe the op is using a starforce copy and maybe forgot to use the starforce removal program :hmmm:
