WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

TMO is short for Trigger Maru Overhauled, one of several supermods for SH4. It heavily modifies the behavior of the destroyers, making them much tougher, and thus making you play harder. It's changes a lot of other things in the game and is a great mod.

TMO changes many aspects of the game to AI, graphics, sub behavior, ordinance behavior, just about anything else you can think of. Some of the changes are major, some are minor. It's a great mod and really improves the game. A lot of us add RSRDC mod on top of it and get an even better game.:Kaleun_Cheers:

I'm not only a newbie to SH4, but also to naval war sims and submarines in general. However, I've been improving in my manual charting and manual targetting. I am using the default 1.5 version of SH4.

Would it be recommended to add these mods to the sim? I prefer start off on harder versions and options rather than learn simplified methods and have to "relearn" when putting a mod on later. Or is it that hard?

Most of Subsim swear by TMO. I personally use RFB. If you want challenge, TMO will definitely hook you up. The AI has definitely been tweeked to be much more of a challenge than in stock. Quite frankly, the AI in TMO performs better than the IJN did historically. TMO will make you earn your paycheck.:ping:

RSRDC stands for Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign. The stock game has way too many Japanese ships in way too many places. RSRDC uses historical records to make the ships be in places they really were. This means that you'll have a harder time finding them, but it also means you won't sink ten times as many ships as the real captains did.

It makes it harder to get high tonnage scores, but it makes it more realistic. You don't have to use it if that's not what you want right now. TMO and other supermods work fine without it.
