ok, so I am slowly getting the hang of this game though it is tough to be consistent. First patrol i sunk 2 ships which I thought was ok for the first time out but on the Second patrol they hunted me like a dog right out the gates and I never had a chance....was a good time just glad that wasnt real life.

I think I got a small problem though. I get "Message Received" but I cannot retrieve message, I watched a youtube video and when they clicked on radio operator they had 4 options, I only have 3, I am missing the one all the way to the right that looks like a big antenna, is this common?

many mods can add on things that you wont have on vanilla SH3. to get to your messages simply click m on your keyboard

I have GWX3 and Commander, had the problem right out the box and after installing the mods. Hopefully m will solve the problem though, thanks I will try it.

Did you make GWX and commander work together with that file

yes, I installed the Commander compatability file that GWX needs

I've never known of any other way to access messages than with the 'M' key. It's how I've always done it.

At least with the mod setup I have, I access radio messages by clicking on my radioman, then clicking on the furthest right of the icons that then appear (the one that looks like a radio tower). That brings me to the messages. Have you activated the mod called "GWX-Integrated Orders"?

Ahhh Haaa, JSGME!!! I was wondering what that was there for, ok so there are 18 mods, some are pretty self explanatory but a few I am not sure what they do.

Currently I am 2 patrols into my career, can I enable or disable any mods while already into my career? What are some anyone would recommend?

The video I watched had a sound mod i guess that had a very monotinous 2 second loop of water dripping..could see that driving me crazy after a second.

One other thing i saw was that when he clicked on the enemy from navagation map there was additional info provided that I am not seeing...there was a dotted radius, as seen at 15:31 of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMQkkK2Q3cw&feature=channel&list=UL
How do I get that type of info?

Hi mate.

Re the ship info, the target has to be id'd once that is done you can clck the nav map and the info will appear.

Enabling/disabling mods is always best done in port, otherwise you're inviting trouble :yep:

Regarding mod recommendations, that subject is never ending. Try a search for the same subject mate :salute:

Best regards.

The answer to that question is to ask here what the mod does. Someone will know and be glad to help.

Most mods can be enabled or disabled any time during your career. Always do it while you're in port between missions, though. Doing it at sea can wreck your career.

Any audio file can be replaced with any other. It's not a big deal to change it.

That looks like the standard sonar info display from the stock game. It tells you exactly what the escorts sonar pattern is. I think you might be able to get it by reducing your "Realism" settings, but I'm not sure which ones as I don't like it myself, being something they couldn't know for sure in real life.

Once again thanks to all, I gotta say I have visited alot of forums in the past (mostly racing and flight sims) but the group here is top notch as far as helping guide a newbie and being very friendly towards others, myself as well as others I am sure really appreciate that

You have definitely come to the right place. Those are the very reasons I was drawn here less than a year ago. I hope you'll stay. :salute:
