Got a question about my hard drives.

My C drive on my laptop is getting full. Can i store stuff on the D drive? Can i install games to it? My D drive is untouched. :hmmm:

No, I don't think you can install things in the D drive.

I would recommend moving some files to a USB drive.

Of course you can!

You can move your files to the D drive, and in the future, when you install things, just install to the D drive instead of the C drive. Most programs can be installed to different locations, there are just a few that cannot.

Tip: try moving your steam folder, that is probably taking up a lot of space, and by default, it is in the C drive.

I have three drives, two (C: and W: contain programs/games, the third contains music/pictures) you can stick 'em anywhere. If it's a physical second drive it'll do it good to have a few programs on there, if it's a partition of one physical drive then not so much. The more a drive has on it the slower it's response time is so splitting between the two would help. :yep:

Similar setup to HerrB; C: for Windows and programs, seperate partition for storage (music,video, installers, etc), then a 2nd drive for games.

Should note though that if you move a program it might not function correctly, at the very least it will break shortcuts. Programs tend to make entries in the registry, which will be incorrect if the data moved somewhere else. Better to uninstall and reinstall to new location.

Not only do I keep my data on a D: Drive, but D: Drive is also a Raid 1 Array, Its got 10 years worth of MP3s, family photos. Textures and 3d work + lots more stuff that is irreplaceble. Drives can fail, so Im not taking any chances.
