Who ever posted this on Youtube clearly can not understand a Scotsman.:haha:
The original Arabic text says "ISAF surrounded by Taliban" yet they are clearly not surrounded and I am only hearing 5.56mm weapons being fired nothing seems to be incoming. When you are surrounded and being over whelmed you are unable to mitigate an evolving situation that is not what is happening here on top of that airborne troops are always surrounded by the enemy that does not mean that they are losing.

The cameraman is panicking though he seems to be ANA. I assume that the chatter on the radio is ANA and there must be some ANA with them as they question the fire discipline of troops out of sight. That is discipline when some of your "comrades" are panicking and you keep on.

What is really happening here is that the Royal Army troops (not sure the unit but several are clearly Scots) are in the process of either attacking or counter attacking a Taliban push the clip shown does not indicate who initiated contact but clearly it is not the Taliban that are in control of the situation.

Sounds like some northern lads in there, not sure who the cameraman is though, and the radio chatter is definitely Arabic. So, either they're working with an Afghan unit, or they're intercepting enemy radio comms.

I'd say that the Taliban was trying to flank them on the left but not doing a very good job of it. Could be possible that they're supporting a native unit doing an offensive on a Taliban position, hence why they're told to just "keep them busy" at the start.

Quite amusing listening to the relatively calm Brits and the frantic cries of "ALLAHUACKBARALLAHUACKBARALLAHUACKBAR" over the radio XD Reminds me of the poor tale of the British unit in the Korean war which transmitted that it was in "A bit of a sticky situation" which the American commander didn't realise was British for "We're cut off and being overrun". Poor sods were pretty much massacred.

My guess is that is was some sort of raid on the part of ISAF and ANA they guy with the camera is I think maybe a translator if they can they try to find good translators and fighters for this job you'll notice that hes has a small ladder in his hands that he rests on the berm.

I think they where a rear guard or perhaps part of a raid that got spotted or had to change objectives suddenly that would explain the ladder which are often used as a bridge so to speak between two buildings during combat making that basic training running from a narrow high object very practical.

The chatter is ANA I think I have seen Algerian paratroopers marching onto a C-130 for their first jump and they where all signing songs in Arabic about Allah with much bravado my friend who was a load master on the C-130 said that the scared ones where saying "Allah have mercy don't kick me out of the plane" in the Algerian military you do not back out of jumping you get pushed out. They are much more likely to say "god help us" than a western person might think and not always in a desperate situation getting to kill the enemy is a good reason to say Allah Ackbar god is great for allowing me to defeat my foe is their thinking.

Some where out there is a complete record of what they where doing it would be interesting to see what that was.
