During combat in bad weather my deck gun crew keeps disappearing every few seconds. Im pretty sure its down to waves washing over the deck, or the bow tipping and making the game think the boat is diving, but its driving me mad, its gotten so bad i dont have enough time between telling them to mount and getting my target lined up, that i dont have time to make the shot before they disappear again. Any one seen this before or know how to fix it?
First: Bonjour ! :salute:
After, for your request ,i can say it's possible, but we try to make is realistic and in bad weather the deck gun was unavailable ... (This is ditto to try to shoot a fly with a gun ,sit on a furious bull...)

Thanks for the reply. took a little translating, :)
Im all for realism, however i wouldnt have thought during war, two boats would sit staring at each other going, "the weathers too bad to try and shoot at them!"
Im also not going to waste a torpedo on a lone ship that cant fight back, its much better for me to use my deck gun, so is there a way around the crew disappearing?
We do what we can, but not what we want !
french proverbe : we are not oxen,we do not hunt flies with the tail :D
and a small "Hi" or "Hello" hat never killed anyone :yep:
and for the translating, try too to write correctly Eg: Im ! Me,i am french, but i try to do my best ! :know:

Would a motivated golf player try to finish a round in the middle of an hurricane? :hmmm:
Probably yes, if both the player and the hurricane were virtual. :haha:
If you want, you can try this (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3521) mod by sober, but it is not very realistic though. Take it as a cheat and don't tell us again that "you are all for realism". Cheating in videogames is not a crime anyway ;) :D

Whats wrong with it :timeout:
Sorry sober, :)
my comment wasn't meant to deprecate your mod but, unless I completely misunderstood it, isn't it making possible the manning of the deckgun during stormy weather? Is this realistic? :hmmm:

I know your british humor sir,
and sure enough I had completely misunderstood your mod, so far. Will test it ASAP
Yep, Sober's deck gun mod is better than good. It's grrrreat! :D At least your deck gun crew doesn't drowned on you. ;)

I had the same problem, deck gun crew leaving on calm sea, don't you have the 'tdw patch' deck awash option enabled?, i disable that and the problem was solved.
Sober, I just had the watch crew jump ship on me in calm weather after surfacing. None of them around at all... above or below. Crew seached high and low for them but they were gone. This was after an escort attack on us at night, and off the coast of France a day out of Lorient.

:hmmm:
deck gun damaged?
crew injured?
It's grrrreat!
Good morning Tony! :salute:
No damage or injured crew as I checked. Had previous damage and a couple of injuires tho, but that was about 6 days previous to this. All were healthy again and the damage to the periscope was repaired.
I'm just going to chalk it up to the watch crew still in their bunks seeing we were so close to Lorient. ;)

Another possible reason that occurs to me is crew morale... have you checked it?
I just don't fight in bad weather, I always wait for it too calm down a bit
either the binoc things on the bridge don't work because of the waves flooding the bridge (they disappear when they become submerged as they are not a permanent fixture)
it is too rough to use the periscope because the whole thing is moving too much to be able to get a good look at anything
and the gun crew don't like being fully submerged (which is a fair point!)

Crew moral is really good. Yeah, I talk to my crew just to keep keep them on their toes and moral up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/GT182/rolleyes.gif ;)
