I'm on my 6th patrol now and its April 1940. I got a radio message on the 18th or 19th of April, but is was empty.
It just said:
From: FROM
To: ...
TO message content
and now I'm curious what it was supposed to say:06:, so I'm hoping somebody is able to tell me.
Also, in case it matters, I'm sailing a Type VIIB of the 7th flotilla.

Is this the stock game or one of the super mods (NYGM or GWX)?

I play GWX and been thru April 1940 numerous times and have not had that happen.:hmmm:

It's just the stock game. Recently bought SH3 and just wanted to get used to the game a bit before I downloaded a super mod.

Good idea.

I'm not sure how the radio messages are stored, but iirc they are in a file somewhere in plain text. Somebody else will know which file. Search that file for empty radio messages. If you find some, it may mean that file has been corrupted, and possibly other files.

I have found the sh3 engine to be surprisingly compliant with files that are filled with corrupt yet usable data. Ie, my type IX would always have a type II Turm regardless of what I bought. Found some of my cfg's full of bad data and 'typos'.

After I saw your respond I immediately started looking in my game files for the messages files.
Now I just found them and my empty message should read:
'A new submarine base is available in the port of Trondheim, of the coast of Norway.'

It is send from 19 April to 21 April and it will be repeated until I've received it (so I probably will get the empty message a couple of times until I've passed April 21st)

So I have to thank you for putting me on the right track :yeah:, I now know the sectret of the empty message :O:
