Has anyone witnessed survivors swimming after hitting a ship?? I just sank a merchant ship and out of the flames and debris I spotted a number of bodies floating on the surface and then 2 or 3 sailors actually swimming away from the flames.....i am totally gobsmacked and i also feel quite guilty for putting them in the high seas???

@sonicninja - What mod(s) are you using?
I have the latest NYGM and regularly see lifeboats but never swimming survivors - I would be interested in having them in my game too. :)

the only mod i think it could be is:- "Rbs1_SH4_Effects_GWX_30_71"
I wish i had recorded it but my fraps seems to only take black screenshots and wont record video since i installed the res fix and play the game at a higher resolution

i'll try and find a decent video recording programme and upload it to youtube, these guys were definately swimming away from the sinking ship, it has to be seen to be believed, just hope it wasnt a bug that i wont see again :doh:

:D I would love to see those, and even more to see them -ingame- with my periscope.
I only have GWXv3 from the list, and I think they arent made any swimmers.
(took out M.E.P.v3, as the 20km is too mutch for me. Prefer to hear the targets first, -then- see them.)
Im sure I install the thing thats responsible for this...

Gargamel, you wouldnt shoot a 88's panzerabwehrkanone with High explosives to those poor souls??? You cant have a heart for it!!! (Not to mention, that the shells arent detonate on water impact)
Do it with the Flak gun....

I once encountered two life rafts from who-knows-what ship. So I maneuvered close to "render assistance etc.."
Since the survivors were paddling along, getting up next to them was a interesting exercise in shiphandling.
The odd thing is that the rafts actually drift through the hull of the U-Boat.
The way they are rendered must be the reason and it was quite a surprise to have the raft disappear from one side and reappear on the other!!

In my list I have the LifeBoats mod and I have the "swimming" sailors. But it isn´t a realistic swimming: only chaf chaf with their legs. Waiting the video...

I have the lsh3 5.1 mod and I see the swimmers. What was disturbing to me was that they swam for a minute or two then went face down and stopped. Some had life preservers and remained upright.

It looks to me like you didn't test these mods, just loaded them all up and called it good.
First, Lifeboats&Debris_v4 has animations (working rowers) that Wooden_Lifeboats doesn't. Using Wooden Lifeboats shuts off those animations.
Racerboy's SH4 Effects has dying men in the water who thrash around awhile before they expire. That may be what you thought were "swimmers". Or not.
The other mods may or may not have that effect. I've been playing SH3 for more than seven years, and I've never seen swimmers either.

The "swimming" sailors are those of Racerboy´s SH4 effects. Not swimmers at all...of course.
Really, I didn't know about the incompatibility between Wooden Lifeboats and LifeBoats&Debris. I see in many JSGME published in SUBSIM these two mods activated in tandem. I´ll test LifeBoats without WoodenLifeboats...Many thanks for the news(for me...)!!

If you should test them and find out they do work together, let me know exactly how you did it. I could never get them to work. Privateer was once planning to add the larger wooden lifeboats to Rubini's mod, but had so many other projects going on that it never happened. I'd love to have wooden boats with animated rowers. :sunny:
