A chance of a life time..I have a Carrier and a Battleship in range and my sub in what I would call textbook position and have the option of taking out one or the other. But as always something has to go wrong. When I use the space bar to lock on the enemy I get a yellow triangle and I can`t identify the ship? So my question is WHY THE DAMN YELLOW TRIANGLE that ruined my entire evening :/\\!!. Also should I take out the Carrier or the Battleship ? I only have 4 torpedoes so I can`t torpedo both.

If i was roleplaying i would take the BB, but if i could make my own decision then the carrier would go down. :salute:

Hands down...the carrier :)

OK so it`s the carrier! But more important is "what does the yellow triangle mean?" I can`t sink either until I can can identify the target and the yellow triangle is preventing me identification of the Carrier or Battleship.

Take out both. They'll count for later on. ;)

Sounds like you're having a problem Harbinger1 with the TDC. That yellow triangle shouldn't be a problem. Red yes. It's taken me a long time to finally learn how to set up for firing torpedos, and now I can sink em pretty regularly... Unless I goof up from being in a hurry and forget one important step. This isn't manual Targeting but it's close. You don't need to line up the numbers on the ship and torpedo paths to get a good shot.

Here's what I do for a target:

Click on Turn TDC ON.
Use your mouse to Lock, and again to Break Lock. You should now see the box to Turn TDC On. Never mind will be at the bottom and will shut off TDC. So be careful you don't shut it down.

Click Turn TDC On and Lock again. Now you'll see the Recognition Manual. Identify the ship and get the info you need. I get the ships draft to set my torpedo depth. Now Break Lock. Now look in the box and it will say Turn TDC OFF. Click on it to turn it off. Now all you have to do is line up where you want to hit the target. OFF is is a must. You want to see Turn TDC ON so your torpedo will go straight and true to the target. I usually use Shift/Space to fire off a torpedo. It's faster than using the mouse to click on Fire. ;)

Works 99.9% of the time. Escorts can be a bugger as they'll speed up and/or slow down, turn, or even stop. Let them get close, within 700 meters or less, and fire a steam powered torp set to FAST. They can't do a thing but blow up.

Practice this in a Single Mission so you get the hang of it, then...... Sink em all.

Good luck. :salute:

It makes to sense to take out both...as I stated on my original post I only have 4 torpedoes left. That means each ship will be hit by only two torpedoes and that is not going to sink either, therefore it`s a waste of torpedoes and time.

....be more agressive.... :D....otherwise you will be in court once you return to port...:D

My plan would be to take out two merchants with the 4 torpedoes within the same task force...much better than wasting 4 torpedoes.

there are merchants as well?? ONE TORPEDO, ONE SHIP :yeah:

not sure that will work on 100% realism.
