George Dalmon, a former rugby player, and his friend Andy Miles were banned from all-you-can-eat restaurant, Gobi, In Brighton, after the manager branded them "a couple of pigs".
The men would each eat five bowls of stir-fry during their regular meals at the Mongolian barbecue, which invites guests to create their own dishes from the buffet.
Diners are told they can request meals "as many times as you wish" for £12.

They ate there for years and never left a tip? If I were them I would be much more worried about what I had actually eaten - could be that they had been served some specials with extra greetings from the kitchen crew...:o
Though I must admit, that Jim and Herr Berbunch look pretty convincing with their masks on, I nearly didn't recognize them...:D

Hey! I can assure you that Jim and I have never been to Brighton together, or even eaten a meal together. But if we did, 12 bowls of stir-fry would be nothing, nothing I tells ya. :03:

If you're going to claim "All you can eat", then you set the tone for the place, and can't complain that someone eats all they can, pigs or not.
I love all you can eats,, there's a couple of nice chinesse joints on the island real nice folks,, you no eat here no more,,, you eat way too much,,,:har::har::har:

For my stag party we went karting then to an all-you-can-eat chinese restaurant - I filled up too much and struggled for the next few hours trying to drink, my glutony put a bit of a downer on the day. By the time I felt better it was almost kicking-out time.

From just reading the headline, I could have sworn this was going to be about the Southern U.S.

"All you can eat" means exactly that, no reason for the owner to complain - or he should change the motto.
Apart from that: a mongolian restaurant - what does he expect from his customers ? The owner can be happy if his 'customers' don't burn down the location, and take all the waitresses with them :haha:

This covers it. All you can eat is....all you can eat. If a guy is a bucket truck of stomach then expect to see the groceries disappear. The place should serve free hush puppies. Dump a bowl at every table. These things fill you fast!

I know you meant it as a joke but that statement would be considered racist by some.
Besides, "all you can eat" doesn't mean start eating right off the buffet table like these guys were doing.

Hello August,
oops you are right, no insult intended !
But i certainly meant the Mongols of the 'Golden Horde' back in the 13/14th century, or better what has been handed down to us, about Genghis Khan and their conquest :

These guys need to visit the US and hit up a Golden Corral the chocolate wonder fall would blow their minds. It is very easy to please those who crave mediocrity.Wonder how many snot rockets have been chocolate coated thanks to Golden Corral.
I never was a fan of buffet style joints to be honest unless it was a high quality set up which most cases its not unless your at Disney World or something like that tearing up the goat cheese in Norway Epcot style and your servers name is Knut. Only Scandinavia is allowed to have buffets.
By the way my job allows me to see inside lots of restaurants kitchens.

I always have been a firm believer that you're more likely to get sick from the hotel buffet than the little taco truck on the corner.
The hotel buffet doesn't care - they hire 18 year old kids doing a job they hate and the hotel knows they have a captive audience and they'll have customers no matter what. The local taco truck is usually run by someone who loves what they do and if it was making people sick, word gets around fast and they'd soon be out of business.

That is a very good point.

Much of it depends on the owners some want money and you loose lots of money in a restaurant to some extent no matter what so the good ones they focus on making good food and having good caring service.
They will spend the time money and effort to have a very good staff well maintained equipment.the cheap owners don't care unless they have to.
The sad truth is that health inspectors in some areas spend lots of time behind the desk a place like New York City will have very active ones but elsewhere not so much.
You would be really shocked just bad some places are and I am the kind of guy that will drop something on the floor and eat it if my dog does not get to it first. At the same time some places are amazingly clean.
I find out really fast when I move an ice machine out away from the wall or step into a walk in.Another big clue is temperatures you can tell what places will let get well past the danger zone before even calling it in and they known that it can take up to 24 hours for a non emergency for a person to show up.
I tend to agree with the mom and pop places many of them are pretty good if the cooks are also the owners then it is a labor of love and they usually have very clean set ups.
I know Disney is very clean because I have a cousin that is a higher level chef for them cleanest place he ever worked.
The thing to me with buffets is more the customers and their poor habits you will notice at a good buffet employees sit and watch people closely and will remove something that got contaminated.
Once when I was 15 or 16 I was eating at this Chinese buffet in Orlando with my dad and I went to grab a second plate as I lifted up my plate a damn cockroach flew out from under it by some chance no one else noticed and I took the cockroach as a sign that my meal was done.I did not say anything to my dad right away but he survived two tours in Vietnam so I figured that little cockroach world not upset him too much I just did not want to be overheard and start a damn riot.So I told him later he just said "extra protein for someone".

Haha happened to vietnamese friend of mine a few years back, him and his mates were politely turfed out of a caribean buffet, because they out ate their welcome :) He said they even started eating some of the decorative fruit hanging on the walls - they were actaully given permission by the waiter to do this, but the manager was less than impressed. :D.

I've been to a few over the years and you invariably see one or two who could eat two more taties than a pg....I envy them because they're getting better value for their money than I am :03:

From reading the headline, I knew I would find a post in here from you saying that. :)

:yep: And 9/10 you'll get a better sized portion and a tastier meal from a roadside burger van than from a fancy restaurant.

I'm starving. Some biscuits and gravy with a whole pile of sausage would hit the spot right about now.
