View Full Version : Some mp3 wont be played on Gramophone
Greetings. Some of the mp3 files placed in the Gramophone folder are arent played in the game, and stops the auto playlist, so I have to restart the Gramophone, or switch manually to next track.
These files arent very large, so I dont know, whats the problem.
Anyone knows the exact fileformat/size/kb\s requirements of the ingame mp3 /ogg player?
Any suggestions how to fix it?
(Most of them are Lord Haw Haw broadcastings from 1940, so I HAVE to make them work XDD)

The only thing I could figure, as a mod user not maker, is certain songs play after a certain date.
I know my career, when in 1939, never played a few songs I'm now hearing in mid-40.
Eh, SH3 doesnt really know when a song was recorded :D
The only possible way to tell the date, if its programmed to search for a year number in the name of every mp3 file :D and if finds it, compare to the current date. (But this method isnt implemented in the code, sadly, it would be a FIIINE addition :D but still no such function in the game)
No, im 67% sure, that my problem is related to the format-and-bitrate requirement of the gramophone in mp3 files.
So how to solve that?
Or maybe, it has anything to do with the fact, that I use mp3 AND ogg files together.
(just a minority of mp3's wont play, othe mp3, and all ogg are play finely)
So, Im in serious need of help :D
Lord Haw Haw only talk to me in two short announcements.. :(
The rest of his work are somehow locked away from me, by british mp3 saboteurs :D

Actually there is a much simpler way. SH3 Commander has a Date function that only accesses folders on the appropriate date. All you have to do is put the songs you want into a folder with the correct dates on them and SH3C will do the rest.
The gramaphone doesn't really like MP3s all that much. Convert them all to ogg and you'll get much better results.

I use Format Factory to do this. It is a free program.

As already stated, convert them all to ogg.vorbis format...those that came with the game as well.
Many thanks, especially for the program :D
I will going to do it (for the good of mankind)
Edit: by the way, niice addition that SH3Com has this feature :D
