Ok, I have read all the negatives about the game but want to buy it anyway:) Once I get it and install it, can you guys point me in the right direction as far as all of the patches I need to install?

Also need a little feedback on my system specs. SH4 runs great on my current machine. Here are my basic specs below, and wanted some opinions on how it might perform. Thanks in advance:salute:

P4 3.4 ghz
2 gigs of ram (Going to install 2 more)
Windows 7 32 bit
Radeon 6570 1 gig video card
(2) 80 gig hard drives

make sure you update it to 1.2.

The rest - up to you. But here's where you can start:

A wee bit of advice J.... do not get the Steam download of SH5. Buy a dvd copy. Amazon.com would be a good place to start.

with your old outdated system the game may not even run and if it does you will definately have constant CTD isues that will drive you crazy. you need a minimum of a core 2 duo processor and 4gb ram is the minimum you will need for the game to run. you will also need to use the ram tweak to get that 32bit system to see and use more ram, the only thing you have there that "might" be ok to run the game is the video card should be just "good enough" to work.

your computer is just too outdated to run the sh5 game but it may be ok to run sh4, i suggest you stick with sh3 and sh4 untill you get a better computer, with the system you have even upgrading isnt an option since "everything" needs upgrading

Webster, an i5 2.81 quad core is what I have for a CPU and SH5 runs fine. An i7 quad core would even be better.
If you can and can afford it, build your own computer. That's how I do mine.... build it yourself so you can upgrade. Store bought PCs are proprietary with crap installed that you don't need.

My computer specs:

Windows XP Home [for now]
Intel i5 quad core 2.81 CPU
Asus P7P55D-E LX motherboard - will also take an i7 CPU - my next upgrade, an unlocked i7.
4GB DDR3 RAM
Zotac GF 8800GT 1GB
Ultra 600w ATX modular power supply
Seagate 1TB SATA HDD
Seagate 500MB SATA HDD for storage and runs a few games.
Corsair H-50 water cooling
CoolMaster HAF 922 full tower case. This is a great case for cooling.
Not bad for about $700.00

I ran the UBI precheck to see if this computer could run it, and it passed with flying colors.

i quoted the original posters specs that HE gave us, i have to think most people never even noticed them because he has a pentium 4 single core processor (P4)

i was NOT suggesting that quote as something people should build or have.

i also never buy but build my own because its too easy and the smart thing to do. sadly most people are too scared or unsure of whats involved to do it so they get store boughts that they know will work fine right out of the box even if they are never top of the line or anywhere close to it

Webster, I feel the same way you do. It's not all that hard to do and you save yourself from headaches not having all the crud that's in a store bought pc.

Besides..... If I can build a computer and it runs afterwards..... anyone can do it. ;) LOL I bought all my parts fromCompUSA just down the road fom me, and the guys there were more than happy to give suggestions based on what I could afford.

I've built my own computers since the late 80's. The hard part then was learning & using Edlin. Now you just pop in the DVD and away you go.

I use to build a new one every two years (because to keep up you had to). I flew Falcon 4 for many years and it needed a good machine. My latest, which I built about 3 years ago is a i7 920 on a Rampage Extreme Asus mobo. Still runs plenty fast so I hope I can get another 1-2 years out of it.

Not many, if any, games I care to buy anymore.

Ok, just got the game from Amazon. Once loaded it immediately began downloading patches. Looks like it is 1.2 now.

Unless I am missing something, my p4 3.4 ghz runs this game great! I went into graphic settings once the game was installed and the graphics were already on maximum settings. I have a new Radeon 6570 1gig video card. I can walk all over the sub without a "shutter" at all.

By the way, does SH5 have torpedo or training missions? I am lost right now:hmm2:

When starting a new campaign for the first time you will do a tutorial. Besides that, there are really no step-by-step tutorials on how/what in the stock game.

Trev provides an awesome assortment of tutorials, but his mod linked to NewUI by TDW.

Do you still have to go through uplay in order to play? Didn't a patch git rid of the internet connenction issue with ubisoft?

Also, since I am at version 1.2 now do I need to install anymore patches from here? Sorry for all the questions, but I am sure there will be more.

yes, uplay needs to be launched to play the game, but you can set it to offline mode ( you only need to be online once for registering when installing)

version 1.2 is the last official patch. Some users refer to an unofficial patch, this does modifications to your .exe file

I must be missing something here. How can you dive when folks are on the deck?? I try to dive and it tells me several crew members are on deck. I turn to what I guess is the watch officer beside me and you can't give him an order to clear the deck:hmm2:

It means you are on the deck..
You should go downstairs and then dive..
