Apparently unaware of the unwritten rules of both ethical journalism and satire, an Iranian news agency published an edited copy of a report from The Onion on Friday, without crediting the original or acknowledging that it was fiction.
The Fars News Agency, which is close to Iran’s powerful Republican Guard Corps, posted its version of the report on its English-language Web site under the same headline used by The Onion for the original four days earlier: “Gallup Poll: Rural Whites Prefer Ahmadinejad To Obama.”

That actually makes sense, if they are seeing fox news and the onion as real news sources, then that explains a lot of the issues we have today.

With further thought, this is downright scary.
The free world, in one form or another, is based upon the concept of free speech. People have right to say what they want. It encourages intelligent, and non-intelligent, debate on the various issues confronted by those societies.
These societies, Iran and other tightly controlled societies, don't have the option of parody. I'm not sure if a society that is force fed rhetoric from a state news agency could comprehend, on a group scale, the concept of a news source being totally satirical and untrue. To a lot of these societies, what is allowed to be published must reflect the view of the entire nation. That partially explains a lot of what is happening with this recent video. The concept of individual viewpoints must be foreign to them.

The onion can be quite covert in its sarcasm.
But this one?
Plus to expect Muslims to understand humor is a bit of a stretch.
They do not understand that we Americans mock each other for amusement. They do not understand the west in general.

I wonder if they really understand what the position is :)

Not likely, it just fits into their propaganda machine.
Even the most rascist of rascists would vote for Obama, than monkeyman Mahmoud. The most hardline righties would prefer Obama to Monkey man.
Then again, I am willing to bet you can find a few who really hates Obama enough.
I do not even get why they ran this, seeming as Romney is the one that is more likely to invade them...That is unless he flip-flopped on that opinion again.
Obama is an apologist. I like the guy more than the other one, but I am sorry he is.
But it is just another excuse to paint America as the eternal bad guy, so all the rubes that live there forget how bad they have it compared to us. A great way to turn jealousy into malice.
Whooooos got it better than us?
Noooooobody.:woot:
