Looks like my marrige may be in trouble again :wah:

It seems my wife does not appreciate me going away to sea with the Royal Navy serving on Her Majestys submarines for months on end with no email, telephone calls etc until my return back to Devonport (plymouth) and then spending my shore leave in the conning tower of a u boat in SH3.

The truth of the matter is i do like the sea and being away, no phone calls, no bills, no shopping, no kids running about, it is in truth a nice peacefull life beneath the waves, ok i miss the wife, the kids and the dog, but i have photo's, photo's that dont ask for money, dont moan about you drinking beer, photo's cant argue with you, photo's are a silent moment of memory.

its definately a life at sea for me, so if im not at sea on a Trafalgar Class nuclear submarine i'm at virtual sea in a U-boat, either way im happy.

I leave the Royal Navy next year after 22 years of service in Her Majestys Submarines, i will definately have to get a divorce then, but ill be taking the dog with me!!! :yeah:

Ask your wife if she wants to go on the trip so you will have a common theme, :yep:

It's hereditary. So don't feel too bad. :arrgh!:

Try this. Change places.... send her off on yer sub for a tour. But make it an all female crew. ;) 28th day the sub will go poof! :haha:

I was at a point like this with my wife. I wasn't away physically, but every other way I was far away.

Is it saveable? A marriage is like a stock you invested long term into, you should always try to save it before you sell it off in a fire sale.

Your close to retirement you say, will she wait?

Tell her you understand how hard it is to be away, and let her know you do not exactly enjoy the seperation either.

Keep it about yourself and her feelings, do not mention anything monetarily/military benefit. It is the "I LOSE" button.

I hate to see this, and pardon my intrusion...

But is it something you want?

I am trying to figure from your post if your sad, or relieved.

Or just trying to put a brave face on things despite how it hurts. (stiff upper lip and all)

You always got friends here. I know text on the screen ain't much, but we are here when needed.:D

Thanks for your service. I am in awe and appreciation of your sacrifice.:salute:

(even if I am a Yank)

Sorry to learn of this but I hope you can both get through this after your retirement...provided that is what you both want of course.

Well, theres your problem. Your wife takes care of the house, the family, the bills, shopping, discipline, etc etc while you're away. Probably really finds it hard to be alone with so much to do.

You come home and plug into a video game? Get a grip on reality man.
